Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dopod Touch / S1 / S500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ELF0160)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion battery rated at 2000mAh (7.4Wh), replacing OEM part ELF0160 in the Dopod Touch, S1, and S500 smartphones. It fits the same bay as the original cell and connects to the same three-pin fuel gauge circuit. Dimensions are 50.84 × 36.65 × 10.78mm — measure your bay before ordering if your unit has been serviced before.
- Touch, S1, and S500 compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The fuel gauge IC on each device reads the same cell identification data, so this replacement integrates without triggering a fault state on any of the three platforms.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Touch platform. The BMS accepted charge current without interruption, and protection circuits tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no runaway, no false full-charge flag.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins against an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Dopod Touch after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage region the IC doesn't expect, it reports remaining charge incorrectly and the device shuts off to protect the SoC. The fix is one full uninterrupted discharge-to-cutoff followed by a full charge — this forces the coulomb counter to relearn the actual capacity. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% should stop. If they continue, confirm the cell voltage at shutdown with a multimeter; it should read above 3.4V.
Device won't power on after sitting in storage with the replacement cell installed
If the phone was stored discharged for an extended period, the cell may have self-discharged below the BMS lockout threshold — typically 2.5V per cell. At that point the BMS cuts output to prevent damage, and the phone will not respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on; the charge IC needs to push enough current past the lockout threshold before the BMS re-enables the output rail. If the charging indicator does not appear within 30 minutes, measure the battery terminals — a reading below 2.3V means the cell has entered deep discharge and may not recover.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Dopod Touch shows the battery percentage jumping around erratically after I put in the new cell — is something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old battery's discharge curve and is misreading the new cell's voltage profile. Run one complete discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge to full without interruption. That single cycle gives the coulomb counter enough data to lock onto the new curve, and the percentage readout stabilises.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — should I be concerned?
Some warmth is normal on the first two or three charge cycles with a new high-impedance cell. The charge IC applies a higher voltage differential across the cell until internal resistance drops as the cell forms. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or charge stops and restarts repeatedly, disconnect it and let it cool — then check that the battery contacts are seated flat and not bent, as a poor contact raises resistance and heat further.
Fast charging stopped working on my Dopod Touch after I replaced the battery — it only charges slowly now.
The proprietary charge protocol between the phone and charger requires a handshake that the new BMS may not pass on the first cycle. Complete one full slow charge from near-empty to 100% using the standard charger. On the next charge attempt, the BMS handshake typically completes and the charge IC steps up to the higher current profile. If fast charging still does not engage after two full cycles, try a different cable — degraded data pins prevent the protocol negotiation from completing.
