This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell built to fit the Tecno HD61 Album smartphone. It replaces the original battery when the existing cell has degraded, swells, or can no longer hold a usable charge. Voltage and physical dimensions match the original: 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm.

  • HD61 Album fit: The HD61 Album uses a compact 3.7V single-cell configuration with a low-current BMS matched to its modest processor and display load. This cell meets that voltage rail and connector spec directly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and charge on the HD61 Album chassis. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge recalibration: On first use after installation, disable fast charging if available and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before the OS starts reporting percentages.

Why the HD61 Album shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after a cell swap

The HD61 Album's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC still references that old curve. At high-draw moments — screen on full brightness, mobile data active — the new cell's actual voltage drops below what the IC predicted, and the phone cuts power as a protection measure rather than reach cell minimum voltage. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. One full discharge-to-charge cycle without fast charging resets the coulomb counter and resolves the mismatch.

Phone won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If this battery dropped below 2.5V before installation, the BMS may have entered lockout mode to prevent cell damage. Plug into a charger and leave it connected for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to trickle enough current past the BMS threshold before the phone can boot. If the device still won't respond, check that the connector is fully seated and try a different USB cable rated for charging, not data-only.

The HD61 Album shows 100% on the battery icon but dies within minutes of unplugging — is the new cell faulty?

This is a fuel gauge IC calibration issue, not a defective cell. The IC is still reading against the discharge curve it learned from your old, degraded battery. Run one full uninterrupted discharge — use the phone normally until it shuts off automatically — then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell and percentage readings stabilise.

The battery percentage on my HD61 Album jumps around erratically after fitting the replacement — went from 60% to 34% in two minutes.

The fuel gauge IC loses its reference points when the cell is swapped. It is estimating state-of-charge against stored data that no longer matches the new cell's impedance and discharge curve. The jumping settles after one or two full discharge-charge cycles as the IC re-learns the curve. Do not top up mid-cycle during those first two charges — let it run from 100% down to automatic shutdown each time.

My HD61 Album feels noticeably warm near the back panel while charging the new battery — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected on the first few charge cycles. A new cell typically has slightly higher internal impedance than a well-cycled one, which causes the charge IC to dissipate a little more energy as heat during the constant-current phase. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charger output exceeds 5V/1A, stop charging and check your adapter. Mild warmth that fades once charging enters the constant-voltage phase above 4.1V is normal and settles after the first few cycles.
