Tefal TY6541 / TY6543 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 2000mAh (28.8Wh) Li-ion battery for the Tefal TY6541 and TY6543 series cordless stick vacuums. It fits TY6541KM/BA0, TY6543KL/BA0, and at least nine additional variants in the same range. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a useful charge.

• TY6541 and TY6543 series fit: Both model lines share the same 14.4V voltage rail, connector footprint, and BMS communication protocol. That is why one battery covers the full range — the motor controller makes no distinction between them.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles on the TY6541 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, current draw tracked within rated spec across full and low-charge states, and the protection circuit responded correctly to over-discharge cutoff.
• Dock charging habit on this vacuum: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the charging dock between uses. Continuous trickle charge on Li-ion cells in stick vacuums accelerates capacity fade faster than almost any other use pattern. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The TY6541 motor controller pulls more current when airflow is restricted — a clogged filter forces the motor to work harder to maintain suction. That elevated draw causes voltage to sag at the cell earlier than the indicator expects, so the vacuum feels weak while the gauge still shows charge remaining. The BMS reads actual cell voltage, but the LED indicator uses a simpler threshold. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest — suction loss that disappears after a filter clean is not a battery fault.

Motor cuts out mid-use and then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction drives current above the protection circuit's threshold, the BMS disconnects the cell to prevent damage. The pack resets after a brief cool-down, which is why the vacuum powers back on a minute or two later. On the TY6541 platform, clear any blockage at the brush head, hose, or filter before assuming the battery is at fault. If the cutout persists with clean airflow and a new cell, check that cell voltage under load does not drop below 12V — anything lower points to a worn motor drawing above spec.
