Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TORO Flex Force Power L135 / L324 Series — 60V Li-ion Replacement Battery (88620)
This is a 60V Li-ion battery rated at 3000mAh (180Wh), built to fit the TORO Flex Force Power System platform. It covers the Flex Force Power L135, L324, Stripe Dual-Blades Self-Propelled Mower, and Recycler Personal Pace Auto-Drive, among others. OEM part numbers 88620, 88625, 88640, 88650, 88660, and 88675 all apply.
- Flex Force platform compatibility: These mowers share a 60V bus and a common battery interface with a BMS handshake protocol. Any pack running on this voltage rail with the correct connector and cell configuration will communicate correctly with the charger and motor controller across all listed models.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through simulated blade-motor inrush loads — the kind of current spike a thick-grass cutting pass generates. The BMS held its protection thresholds correctly and resumed discharge without nuisance trips under sustained load cycling.
- Seasonal storage tip: If the mower has sat in an unheated garage through winter, bring the battery indoors overnight before the first spring use. Li-ion cells below 10°C have elevated internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current on a cold pack can trigger BMS cutoff before the cells have warmed to normal operating temperature.
BMS cutoff on thick-grass and wet-grass blade load
The Flex Force blade motor pulls a short but sharp inrush current every time it encounters resistance — thick, long, or wet grass amplifies this spike significantly. If the BMS reads that spike as an overcurrent event, it cuts power to protect the cells. This is more likely during the first few charge cycles on a new pack, before the cells have been conditioned to their full charge acceptance. After five full charge-discharge cycles, the BMS threshold and cell internal resistance settle into balance and nuisance trips become rare.
Charger showing fault light after mower sat unused all winter
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the battery voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell during a long winter layoff, the charger's acceptance circuit will reject the pack and show a fault indicator rather than begin charging. To recover the pack, leave it connected to the charger for 10–15 minutes — many chargers will attempt a trickle pre-charge to bring cell voltage back above the acceptance threshold. If the fault clears and normal charging begins, the pack is recovering. If the fault light stays on after 20 minutes, the cells have dropped too far and the pack needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TORO Flex Force mower cuts out halfway through a row, then starts again after a minute — what's causing that?
That's thermal protection engaging. The blade motor builds heat under sustained load, and when the pack's internal temperature sensor hits its cutoff point, the BMS shuts discharge down until the cells cool. It's not a fault — it's the pack protecting itself. Let the battery rest for five minutes in a shaded spot, then continue mowing; if it keeps happening, work in shorter passes through dense grass.
The battery feels noticeably warm after the first few uses — is something wrong with this pack?
Nothing is wrong. New Li-ion cells run slightly warmer for the first three to five charge-discharge cycles while the cell chemistry reaches equilibrium. We measured pack surface temperature on the bench across the first five cycles and saw it normalise by cycle four. If the pack is still running hot after ten cycles, check that the battery bay on the mower has no grass clippings blocking the ventilation slots — blocked airflow holds heat in.
My mower loses power noticeably when the temperature drops below 10°C — is the battery failing?
It's not failing — it's physics. Li-ion cells lose available capacity in cold weather because lower temperatures increase internal cell resistance, reducing how much current the pack can deliver at the required voltage. At 5°C you can expect a meaningful drop in cutting performance compared to a 20°C day. Store the battery indoors before a cold-morning mow and fit it to the mower just before you start — a battery at room temperature will outperform one that sat in a cold shed overnight.
