Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TORO Flex Force Power L135 Series — 60V Li-ion Replacement Battery (88620)
This is a 60V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 5000mAh (300Wh) for TORO Flex Force Power cordless mowers. It fits the Flex Force Power L135, L324, Stripe Dual-Blades Self-Propelled Mower, Recycler Personal Pace Auto-Drive, and 84 additional TORO Flex Force models sharing the same 60V platform. OEM part numbers covered include 88620, 88625, 88640, 88650, 88660, and 88675.
- 60V Flex Force platform compatibility: These mower models share a common 60V battery rail, connector housing, and BMS handshake protocol. Any model in the Flex Force family that accepts an 88620-series pack will accept this cell assembly without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a Flex Force mower deck under simulated blade-load conditions. The BMS correctly handled motor inrush current at startup and maintained stable output voltage across the discharge curve without nuisance tripping.
- Seasonal storage prep: If the mower will sit unused for more than 8 weeks, discharge the pack to around 50% charge before storing — not fully depleted. A fully drained 60V Li-ion pack left over winter can drop below the BMS acceptance threshold, and the charger will refuse to initialise it.
BMS cutoff under thick grass or wet-grass blade load
Wet or dense grass dramatically increases blade motor draw. On a 60V pack, the inrush current spike when the blade engages against heavy material can exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold — especially on a pack that is already warm from a previous pass. The BMS shuts down output as a protective measure, not a fault. This is correct behaviour. Avoid engaging the blade at full forward speed into dense patches; throttle back or lift slightly over thick sections to keep motor draw within the BMS window.
Charger won't accept the pack after winter storage
If a 60V Li-ion pack discharges below approximately 2.5V per cell during long-term storage, the charger's pre-charge detection circuit sees the pack as defective and refuses to charge. This is a voltage floor issue, not a dead battery. Some TORO Flex Force chargers have a recovery mode — connect the pack, wait 5 minutes, and check whether the fault light clears as the charger attempts a trickle pre-charge pulse. If the indicator shifts from red fault to amber charge within 10 minutes, the pack is recovering; allow a full uninterrupted charge cycle before use.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TORO Flex Force cuts out halfway through a row then starts again after a minute — what's happening?
This is thermal protection triggering under sustained load. The blade motor builds heat during long continuous passes, and when the pack temperature sensor hits the BMS cutoff threshold, output shuts off until the cells cool. It is not a battery fault. After the mower cuts out, wait a full 5 minutes before restarting — resuming too soon causes repeat trips. On subsequent mows, overlap your rows less and allow the deck a brief pause between dense sections.
The new battery feels noticeably warmer than my old one during the first few uses — is that normal?
Yes. Fresh Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance before the first few charge-discharge cycles condition the electrodes. That resistance generates more heat per amp of draw during early use. After 4 to 5 full cycles, internal resistance drops and the warmth during mowing reduces to normal levels. If the pack is too hot to touch comfortably after cycle 6 or beyond, that is outside normal conditioning range and worth investigating further.
My Flex Force mower lost noticeable cutting power on the first cold morning of the year — battery issue or mower issue?
The battery. Li-ion cells below 10°C have measurably higher internal resistance, which reduces available current under the heavy load of a blade motor. The capacity loss is temporary — it is not permanent cell damage. Bring the pack indoors the night before a cold-morning mow and let it reach room temperature before use. A pack that starts at 20°C instead of 5°C will deliver full voltage under blade-load from the first engagement.
