Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Total Wireless A2X / A508DL — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This is a 3300mAh, 3.85V Li-Polymer battery for the Total Wireless A2X and A508DL smartphones. It replaces a worn or dead original cell that no longer holds charge through a normal day. Capacity figures come from our product data: 3300mAh / 12.71Wh.
- A2X and A508DL shared platform: Both models run the same battery bay dimensions — 80.20 × 60.60 × 4.10mm — and use the same connector pinout and BMS handshake voltage, so one cell covers both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the A508DL platform. The BMS accepted a standard charge cycle without overcurrent flags, and cell voltage at full charge held steady at 4.35V before tapering.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
A new Li-Polymer cell has a steeper voltage cliff than a broken-in cell. When the modem fires a transmission burst or the screen peaks brightness, current draw spikes and cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the OS reported 20–30% remaining. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's curve, so the percentage shown does not match the new cell's actual state of charge. One full slow-charge cycle from 0% to 100% resets the coulomb counter and pushes the cutoff event to a much lower reported percentage.
Phone warm near the battery during first few charges
A fresh Li-Polymer cell starts with slightly higher internal impedance than a cycled one. The charge IC pushes current into that resistance, and the resulting heat is normal for the first two to three cycles. If surface temperature stays below 40°C and drops after the first full cycle, nothing is wrong. If the phone stays hot past the third charge or shows a thermal warning, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a half-seated connector forces the IC to compensate with higher voltage, which generates additional heat.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Total Wireless A2X keeps shutting off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?
The cell is most likely fine. A fresh Li-Polymer cell has a steeper voltage drop under load than a worn cell, so when the modem or screen draws a spike of current, voltage collapses past the BMS cutoff while the OS still shows charge remaining. The fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, not this one. Run one full slow-charge cycle — charge to 100% without fast charge enabled, then drain fully — and the coulomb counter will remap to the new cell, pushing the cutoff event to a much lower reported percentage.
The battery percentage on my A508DL jumps around erratically after the swap — sometimes it gains 10% without charging.
That is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating. The coulomb counter stored the old cell's charge curve in memory, and the new cell's voltage-to-capacity relationship does not match it yet. The OS translates raw voltage readings into percentage using that stale curve, so the number jumps as the IC tries to reconcile the mismatch. Complete two full discharge-and-charge cycles with fast charging off — by the end of the second cycle the IC will have enough data to track the new cell accurately.
My A2X won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it.
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below roughly 2.5V the BMS will have entered lockout mode to prevent damage — it blocks current in both directions until a recovery charge is applied. Plug the phone into a wall charger and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes without pressing the power button. Most charge ICs apply a low-current trickle recovery charge that slowly brings the cell voltage back above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone will boot normally. If voltage does not recover above 3.0V after an hour on charge, the cell has been in deep discharge too long to recover.
