Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UMI UMIDIGI A9 Pro — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (1ICP/5/65/80)
This is a 3.85V, 3700mAh Li-Polymer battery for the UMIDIGI A9 Pro smartphone. It replaces part number 1ICP/5/65/80 and restores power to the display, processor, and cellular radio. Use it when the original cell no longer holds charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.
- UMIDIGI A9 Pro fit: The A9 Pro uses a 3.85V nominal rail matched to its PMIC. This cell meets that voltage spec and matches the original connector pinout and physical dimensions — 81.30 × 65.20 × 4.20mm — so the BMS handshake with the charge IC completes correctly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the A9 Pro platform and confirmed BMS communication, charge acceptance, and thermal behaviour under screen-on and modem-active loads. No cutoff anomalies were recorded during the test sequence.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This allows the fuel gauge IC to build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the UMIDIGI A9 Pro after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still reading the old cell's voltage curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or display load at a state of charge the gauge reads as 20–30%. The phone cuts out because actual cell voltage drops below the PMIC's minimum threshold even though the percentage looks safe. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate re-maps the gauge to the new cell's curve and eliminates the cliff.
USB-PD fast charge not triggering after replacement
On the first cycle after installation, the A9 Pro's charge IC may not complete the USB-PD handshake with the new cell's BMS, so the phone accepts only standard 5V charging. This is normal — the BMS and charge IC exchange authentication on first contact and may require one standard charge cycle to settle. After that first full charge at standard rate, reconnect your fast charger and the PD negotiation should complete. If it does not trigger after two full cycles, check that the charge port is clean and the cable supports USB-PD.

Frequently Asked Questions
My UMIDIGI A9 Pro is showing the wrong battery percentage after I replaced the battery — it jumped from 45% to 8% without warning. What's causing this?
The fuel gauge IC in the A9 Pro calibrated its discharge curve against the old cell over hundreds of cycles. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship, so the percentage reading jumps erratically. Run one complete discharge — use the phone until it shuts itself off — then charge it fully to 100% at standard rate without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and the percentage readings stabilise.
The phone won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — is the cell dead?
If the cell discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage and blocks all current flow. The phone will not respond to the power button and may not show a charging indicator at first. Connect a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without touching the phone — the charge IC applies a low-current trickle to bring the cell voltage above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage crosses roughly 3.0V, the BMS releases the lockout and normal charging resumes.
The UMIDIGI A9 Pro gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after I fitted this replacement — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC pushes current into more resistance on the first few cycles and generates more heat as a result. This is expected and the warmth should reduce after three to five full charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. Keep the phone out of a case during those first charges to let heat dissipate. If the back stays hot to the touch beyond the fifth cycle, check that the replacement cell is seated flat and the connector is fully locked.
