  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the iQOO 10 5G platform. Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the iQOO 10 5G after a cell swap

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. When the 5G modem or the AMOLED display pulls peak current, the new cell's internal resistance causes a momentary voltage sag. If the voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V per cell — the phone shuts off even though the fuel gauge still shows 20–30% remaining. The fix is one full calibration cycle: drain the phone to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without removing the cable. After that cycle, the coulomb counter maps the actual discharge curve of the new cell and the shutdowns stop.

USB-PD or FlashCharge not negotiating after replacement

On the first charge after installation, the BMS in a new cell may not immediately accept the proprietary high-voltage handshake that Vivo's FlashCharge protocol requires. The charge IC defaults to 5V standard input instead of the elevated voltage rail. Plug the phone in with the original Vivo adapter and leave it connected for a full charge without interrupting the session — do not unplug and replug mid-charge. If FlashCharge still does not engage after the first complete cycle, check that the adapter output matches the 120W or 66W rating required by the device variant.

It is not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old battery's discharge curve, so the percentage reading and the actual voltage under load are out of sync. When the modem or screen pulls a current spike, the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff and the phone shuts down even though the display says 25%. Run one full discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% on a standard 5V input without interruption — after that cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates and the shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage jumps around erratically after I replaced the B-T9 — it jumped from 60% to 41% in two minutes.

The coulomb counter inside the charge IC is still using the learned curve from the degraded original cell. A new cell has a different internal resistance profile, so the fuel gauge misreads state-of-charge until it maps the new discharge curve. Let the phone drain fully to automatic shutdown — do not force-restart — then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session at standard rate. After one complete cycle the percentage display stabilises; two cycles fully settles the gauge.

The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery area during the first few charges — is that normal with this replacement cell?

Yes, and it is specific to the first few charges on a new high-impedance cell. A fresh Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates more heat as it pushes current through that resistance. The warmth drops off after two or three full charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone is still generating the same level of heat after five cycles, confirm the adapter output voltage matches the device spec — an overvoltage condition from a non-Vivo adapter will cause sustained heat regardless of cell age.
