The B-R5 is a 3950mAh Li-Polymer cell rated at 3.89V (15.37Wh). It fits the Vivo V23e, V2116, S10e, and S10e 5G. This battery restores power to the display, processor, and cellular radios when the original cell has degraded or failed entirely.

  • V23e / S10e platform fit: These models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The B-R5 part number spans all listed variants because the voltage rail and physical footprint — 83.30 × 61.45 × 4.40mm — are identical across them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the B-R5 through charge and load cycles on the V23e mainboard. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC engaged at full current within the first cycle.
  • First-cycle fast charge caution: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its discharge curve against the new cell before the charge IC pushes high current into an uncalibrated state.

Why the V23e reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on the V23e uses a coulomb counter calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. After swapping to a new B-R5 cell, the stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour. The phone reads estimated state-of-charge against stale data, which produces inflated or deflated percentage readings. Run one full discharge to around 5% and a complete charge to 100% without interruption — the fuel gauge IC updates its reference curve during that cycle.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't completed recalibration and the cell voltage drops sharply under modem or screen load — a voltage cliff the old curve didn't predict. The phone's low-voltage protection trips before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It is not a faulty cell. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles without fast charging; once the coulomb counter locks onto the new cell's curve, the shutdown threshold tracks accurately down to approximately 3.3V per cell.

The Vivo V23e won't power on at all after the B-R5 sat in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?

The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V during extended storage — a protective cutoff that prevents recovery through normal charging. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a PC port, and leave it for 30–40 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC applies a trickle current that brings the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold; once voltage clears that floor, the phone should boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working on the V23e immediately after fitting the B-R5 — the phone only charges slowly now.

Vivo's proprietary fast charge protocol requires the BMS to report a valid cell state before the charge IC authorises high-current delivery. On a brand-new cell, the fuel gauge IC has no stored discharge data, so the charge IC defaults to a safe low-current rate. Complete one full standard-charge cycle to 100%, let the phone cool to room temperature, then reconnect the charger — the charge IC should negotiate full fast charge current on that second cycle.

The battery percentage on the V23e jumps around erratically — it was at 45%, then jumped to 62%, then dropped to 30% within minutes.

Erratic percentage jumps are the fuel gauge IC recalibrating its coulomb counter against the new B-R5 discharge curve in real time — the old reference data stored for the original cell does not match the new cell's impedance and voltage profile. The IC is correcting its estimate as it gathers fresh data. Run two uninterrupted full cycles — discharge to 5% under normal use, charge to 100% on standard charging — and the coulomb counter stabilises its readings.
