This 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original HB5B2 battery in the Vodafone 830, 830i, V830, and VF830 smartphones. It fits the same slot and connector as the factory cell. Capacity is 1100mAh — identical to the original OEM specification.

• 830 and 830i compatibility: The 830, 830i, V830, and VF830 all share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout. The HB5B2 cell fits each variant without modification because Vodafone used a common battery platform across this model range.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 830 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without errors, and the charge IC completed a full cycle to 4.2V without interruption.
• Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle before normal use. The fuel gauge IC calibrates its discharge curve on that first cycle — skipping it on a new high-impedance cell can cause the OS to misread remaining capacity by a significant margin.

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a different internal resistance profile, so the voltage drops faster under modem or screen load than the IC expects. The phone interprets that voltage sag as a critically low state and shuts down — even though the cell still has usable charge. One full discharge-charge cycle with the new cell resets the coulomb counter and aligns the IC to the new curve.

OS reporting wrong battery percentage after fitting the HB5B2

The Android fuel gauge IC on the 830 stores a learned discharge model from the old cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored model no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so percentage readings jump or stall at incorrect values. The fix is to let the phone discharge fully to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this forces the IC to rewrite its reference curve against the new cell. After that single cycle, percentage tracking stabilises.
