Fits Worx WG180, WG280, WG380, WG580 trimmers and edgers; replaces OEM part WA3580.
40V 1500mAh lithium-ion delivers full power to the WG180 motor without voltage sag under sustained cutting load.
Slide connector seats flush into the battery slot with a positive locking tab that prevents accidental ejection during operation.
We tested the pack on WG180 motor start and confirmed the BMS accepts the inrush spike without nuisance cutoff.
On first use, run the trimmer at half throttle for two cycles before full-load edging — the BMS needs to profile motor current draw before locking overcurrent thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Worx WG180 / WG280 / WG380 / WG580 Series — 40V Li-ion Replacement Battery (WA3580)

This is a 40V 1500mAh (60Wh) Li-ion battery pack built to the WA3580 specification. It fits the Worx WG180, WG280, WG380, and WG580 cordless trimmer and edger series. Slot it into any compatible charger and tool — the connector and BMS handshake match the original pack.

  • WG180 / WG280 / WG380 / WG580 platform fit: All four models share the same 40V battery rail, slide-latch connector, and BMS communication protocol. One pack works across the entire lineup without adapters or firmware differences.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated motor-start inrush events on a WG180 trimmer. The BMS held the overcurrent threshold correctly and did not trip during normal trigger pulls at full load.
  • First-use load conditioning on trimmer motors: Run the trimmer at half throttle for the first two full discharge cycles before sustained full-speed cutting. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent protection thresholds accurately before you push it into dense grass or thick growth.

BMS cutoff on trigger pull during dense vegetation cutting

When the trimmer head bites into thick grass or weeds, the motor draws a sharp inrush spike before it reaches operating speed. On a new or storage-depleted pack, the BMS may read that spike as an overcurrent fault and cut power instantly. The fix is gradual load conditioning — two cycles at partial throttle recalibrates the BMS trip threshold to the actual motor profile. After conditioning, full-throttle cuts into dense growth should not trigger a cutoff.

Charger shows blinking red and won't begin charging after storage

Li-ion packs stored uncharged for more than a few months can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage floor — typically around 30V on a 40V system. The charger detects a cell voltage it considers unsafe and refuses to start the charge cycle, showing a blinking red fault light. Remove the pack, wait 60 seconds, and reinsert it to trigger a fresh handshake. If the charger still rejects the pack, check cell voltage at the terminals — anything above 28V should respond to a trickle-mode charger or a second reinsertion attempt.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Worx WG180 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger into thick grass — what's causing it?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip caused by the motor-start inrush spike exceeding the protection threshold. It's more likely on a new or recently stored pack because the BMS hasn't profiled the motor's actual draw yet. Run two full cycles at half throttle before using full speed in dense vegetation — this recalibrates the trip threshold to the real motor load. After conditioning, trigger-pull cutouts in normal cutting conditions should stop.

The WG180 spins up fine but bogs down and feels weak halfway through a cut — is that voltage sag?

Yes. Voltage sag under sustained load is the most common mid-use performance drop on 40V trimmer packs. It happens when internal cell resistance has risen from repeated cycling, causing the rail voltage to droop under motor draw rather than holding steady. Check the battery contact rails on both the pack and the tool for corrosion or debris — high contact resistance makes sag worse. If contacts are clean and sag is still severe, the pack's cells have degraded below useful capacity and need replacement.

The WA3580 pack charges fine indoors but the trimmer feels noticeably weaker on cold mornings — is the battery failing?

It's not failing — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the current the pack can deliver under load. The trimmer motor sees less available current and produces less torque, so cutting feels sluggish. Bring the pack indoors for 20–30 minutes before heading out on cold days to let cell temperature recover. Once cell temperature is above 10°C, output returns to normal rated levels.
