Fits Xiaomi Mi 9 and replaces OEM battery part number BM3L across all regional variants.
Voltage sits at 3.85V nominal with 3200mAh capacity — this restores full charge cycles on the Mi 9's Snapdragon processor and display without throttling.
Connector is a two-pin JST plug with a single locking tab; slides into the battery slot with tab facing the device frame.
We bench-tested this cell on a Mi 9 motherboard — the BMS accepted charge current without fault codes, and voltage ramp-up tracked normal Li-polymer behavior under 5V input.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before USB-PD pushes current into an uncalibrated BMS.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Mi 9 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BM3L)

This is a 3.85V, 3200mAh (12.32Wh) Li-Polymer cell built to fit the Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphone. It replaces the original BM3L battery across the M1902F1A, M1902F1T, and M1902F1G variants. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds charge, shuts down unexpectedly, or swells.

  • Mi 9 variant compatibility: The M1902F1A, M1902F1T, and M1902F1G all share the same physical cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One BM3L cell fits every regional build of the Mi 9.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Mi 9 unit and logged the BMS charge acceptance across the full CC/CV curve. The protection circuit engaged correctly at both low-voltage cutoff and charge termination — no false trips, no thermal flags.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Mi 9 after a cell swap

The Mi 9 fuel gauge IC retains the old cell's discharge curve in memory after a swap. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC misreads as safe, the phone still sees it as sufficient — until the modem or display spikes current draw and the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold instantly. That gap between the IC's prediction and the cell's real voltage floor is what causes the abrupt shutdown. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the coulomb counter to resync against the new cell. After that cycle, the shutdowns stop.

USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement

Xiaomi's fast charge protocol requires the BMS to report a valid cell state before the charge IC ramps current above standard 5V/2A. On a freshly installed cell with no charge history, the BMS may return an indeterminate state flag and the charger falls back to slow charge as a safety measure. This is not a fault — it clears after the first complete charge cycle at standard rate. Plug in with the stock charger, let it charge fully without interruption, and fast charge will negotiate correctly from the second cycle onward.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Mi 9 keeps shutting off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — why?

The fuel gauge IC on the Mi 9 is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the new cell's actual voltage floor. When current spikes under modem or screen load, the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold faster than the IC predicts. Run one full discharge — let the phone shut down on its own — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging enabled. That forces the coulomb counter to remap against the new cell, and the premature shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my Mi 9 is jumping around erratically after the swap — is the battery faulty?

It's not a faulty cell — it's the fuel gauge IC recalibrating. The coulomb counter loses its reference point when the cell is replaced and produces unstable percentage readings until it has a full cycle to anchor against. Do not top up repeatedly or charge in short sessions during this phase, as partial cycles prevent the IC from completing its recalibration. One complete discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100% at standard rate will stabilise the percentage display.

My Mi 9 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage for a few months — how do I recover it?

If the cell voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charging to prevent damage to a deeply discharged cell. Plug in using the original Xiaomi charger and leave it connected for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold before switching to full charge mode. If the screen shows no sign of life after 30 minutes, try a second known-good cable, as a current-limited cable can fail to trigger trickle recovery. Once the cell reaches 3.0V the BMS unlocks and the phone boots normally.
