Fits Xplore G18 and G88 smartphones; replaces OEM battery part number BO81.
3.7V, 950mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers 3.52Wh to the processor, modem, and display.
Connector type and orientation match OEM BO81 hardware; physical fit confirmed on G18 chassis.
We bench-tested this cell in a G18 unit; BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xplore G18 / G88 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BO81)

This is a 3.7V, 950mAh lithium-polymer cell for the Xplore G18 and G88 smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers BO81 and A00097459. The battery powers the processor, display, and cellular radio stack in both handsets.

  • G18 and G88 shared platform: Both models run the same 3.7V battery rail, use the same connector pinout, and expect the same BMS handshake. One cell fits both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the G18. The BMS accepted the charge profile correctly, voltage held steady across the modem-active and display-on load states, and no over-voltage or under-voltage cutoff events were logged.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. The G18 fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Giving it one full cycle at standard charge current lets it remap the new cell's curve accurately before fast charging pushes higher current into an uncalibrated gauge.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Xplore G18 after cell replacement

This is a voltage-cliff failure. The fuel gauge IC still holds the old cell's discharge curve in memory, so the percentage it reports does not match where the new cell's voltage actually drops off. Under modem or screen load, the new cell hits its minimum cutoff voltage before the OS expects it to. The phone shuts down to protect the cell even though the screen showed charge remaining. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate forces the coulomb counter to relearn the new cell's curve, and the shutdowns stop.

Battery percentage jumping erratically in the first two days after installation

The G18's fuel gauge IC uses a coulomb counter that was calibrated against the worn original cell. A new 950mAh cell has a significantly different impedance and discharge curve, so the counter mismaps capacity at mid-range states of charge. Percentages can jump 10–15 points in either direction during normal use until the IC recalibrates. Run two full discharge-charge cycles at standard current — by the end of the second cycle, the counter has enough real data to track the new cell accurately and the erratic jumps settle out.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Xplore G18 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage — is the cell dead?

It is likely not dead — the BMS has locked the cell out because the voltage dropped below 2.5V per cell during storage. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a PC USB port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage recovers above the BMS re-enable threshold, at which point the phone will boot normally. If there is still no response after 30 minutes, check that the battery connector is fully seated.

Fast charging stopped working after I put in the new Xplore G18 battery — is the charger broken?

The charger is almost certainly fine. On the first cycle after a cell swap, the USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge protocol negotiation can fail because the new BMS has not yet confirmed a charge history to the phone's charge IC, so the IC falls back to standard 5V charging as a precaution. Run one full standard-rate charge cycle to completion. On the next charge, fast charging re-enables once the BMS and charge IC have completed a full handshake cycle on the new cell.

The Xplore G18 gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is something wrong?

This is normal behaviour on the first one or two cycles with a new high-impedance cell. A fresh lithium-polymer cell has higher internal resistance than a well-cycled one, so the charge IC pushes voltage into more resistance, generating more heat than you will see later. If the warmth is uncomfortable to touch or the phone triggers a thermal warning, stop charging and check the connector seating. Otherwise the heat will drop noticeably after the cell completes two full cycles and internal resistance falls to its nominal level.
