  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full discharge and recharge sequences on the iClebo platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the charger, accepted charge without error flags, and delivered consistent voltage through the cleaning cycle.
  • Dock charging habit on the iClebo Smart: Do not leave the iClebo sitting on the dock continuously between uses. The trickle current the dock maintains after a full charge accelerates cell degradation. Charge the battery to full, then remove the unit from the dock until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The iClebo Smart's motor draws significantly more current when the filter is partially blocked or the brush roller is restricted. This causes the battery voltage to sag under load well before the charge indicator registers low. The BMS reads a voltage drop as a near-depleted cell and reduces power delivery to protect the pack. Clean the filter and clear the brush roller — if suction restores immediately, the battery is not the cause.

Motor cutting out mid-cycle and then recovering

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained airflow restriction forces the motor to draw above the pack's rated discharge threshold, the BMS disconnects the output to prevent cell damage. Power returns once the BMS resets, usually within a few seconds. Check the filter first — a clogged filter is the most common trigger. If the motor cuts out on a clean filter with a new battery, confirm the charger brought the pack to a full 16.8V before use.

Yes, a partially blocked filter is a common culprit. When airflow is restricted, the motor draws more current than it was rated for, which drains the battery faster than normal and can trigger early BMS shutoff. Remove and clean the filter, then run a full cycle. If runtime improves noticeably, the battery is not at fault — the filter was overloading the motor.

My iClebo Smart stopped charging after I installed the replacement battery — what do I check first?

The iClebo charger expects a BMS handshake before it begins delivering current. If the charger LED shows no activity at all, seat the battery firmly and confirm the dock contacts are clean and making full contact. A voltmeter across the battery terminals should read above 10V for the BMS to initialise — if it reads lower, the cell may have deep-discharged in storage. Leave it on the dock for 30 minutes; some chargers will pulse-charge a low cell before switching to normal mode.

The iClebo battery I had before lasted years — why did it fade so quickly the second time?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade on the iClebo platform. Once the battery reaches full charge, the dock continues to supply a low trickle current, which stresses lithium cells over weeks and months. The fix is simple: charge the unit to full, then lift it off the dock and store it on a shelf until the next use. Doing this consistently will keep the replacement cell closer to its rated 3400mAh capacity for significantly longer.
