Fits Euro Pro AP1172, AP1172N, and V1917 cordless vacuums; replaces OEM part XBV1917.
8.4V at 2000mAh delivers sustained motor power on carpet and bare floors without mid-cycle dropout.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a forward-lock tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH pack on a V1917 handheld unit — BMS accepted charge at standard trickle rate and held voltage stable under sustained suction load.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock continuously; trickle charge degrades Ni-MH capacity faster than charge-when-depleted cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Euro Pro AP1172 / V1917 Series — 8.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (XBV1917)

This is an 8.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery pack for the Euro Pro Shark cordless vacuum. It fits the AP1172, AP1172N, and V1917 models. Voltage and capacity match the original pack specification exactly.

  • AP1172, AP1172N, V1917 compatibility: These three models share the same 8.4V cell stack, connector pinout, and physical housing dimensions. A single replacement pack covers all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through full charge and discharge cycles on a V1917 unit. The BMS held voltage steady under normal carpet suction load and triggered protection correctly when current exceeded the rated draw threshold.
  • Dock charging behaviour on this vacuum: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock between uses. The AP1172 series dock does not cut charge when full — continuous trickle current degrades Ni-MH cells faster than any other single factor. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the AP1172

Ni-MH packs lose voltage under motor load before the open-circuit voltage drops enough to trigger the low-battery indicator. On the AP1172, this means suction noticeably weakens while the indicator still shows adequate charge. A restricted filter makes this worse — the motor draws higher current to maintain suction, and the pack voltage sags further under that extra load. Clean or replace the filter first, then check whether the issue persists with a fresh battery.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the vacuum filter is partially blocked, the motor works harder to pull airflow, drawing more current than the BMS allows for sustained periods. The protection circuit cuts power, and the pack recovers once current demand drops. Clearing the filter is the first fix — if the cut-out continues on a clean filter with a new pack, check that the motor brush contacts are seated correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Euro Pro AP1172 loses suction well before the battery light comes on — is the new battery faulty?

No — this is normal Ni-MH voltage sag behaviour, not a faulty cell. Ni-MH packs drop working voltage under motor load before open-circuit voltage falls low enough to trip the indicator. A blocked or dirty filter makes it significantly worse because the motor draws extra current to compensate for restricted airflow. Clean the filter first, then retest — if suction holds steady longer, the filter was the cause.

The vacuum motor shuts off mid-clean, then starts again after I wait 30 seconds — what is happening?

The BMS is tripping on overcurrent, not battery failure. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, clogged brush roll, or a stuck debris path — the motor pulls more current than the pack's protection circuit permits and cuts the output. The 30-second recovery window is the BMS resetting after the cell temperature drops slightly. Clear every airflow restriction first; if the trip continues on a clean filter with a fresh battery, check the brush roll for tangled debris pressing against the motor.

The replacement battery charged fully on day one but now feels like it drains much faster — what causes that?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause on the AP1172 and V1917 series. The dock does not stop charging when the pack is full, so the cells absorb a low trickle current indefinitely, which accelerates capacity fade in Ni-MH chemistry. Charge the pack to full, disconnect from the dock, and store the vacuum off the charger between uses. Capacity should stabilise once the dock-charging cycle stops.
