Shipping calculated at checkout.
Fits ZTE N960, U236, and X920 smartphones; replaces OEM part Li3712T42P3h734141.
This 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell delivers 3.33Wh to power calls, messaging, and core apps.
Connector matches original orientation; 72.85 x 41.00 x 4.30mm form factor seats flush in the battery slot.
We bench-tested the BMS against a discharged N960 unit—fuel gauge accepted the new cell without lockout errors on insertion.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without fast charging to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZTE N960 / U236 / X920 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Li3712T42P3h734141)

This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell built to the OEM spec for the ZTE N960, U236, and X920 smartphones. It slots directly into the same battery bay and connects to the same fuel gauge circuit as the original. Capacity figures come from product data — 3.33Wh total energy.

  • N960, U236, and X920 platform: These three models share the same battery bay dimensions (72.85 × 41.00 × 4.30mm), the same 3.7V nominal voltage rail, and the same connector pinout. One cell fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the N960 and monitored BMS handshake behaviour. The protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff and accepted charge current without fault codes.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the N960 after a cell swap

The N960's fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve calibrated to the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve, so the gauge can misread remaining charge by a wide margin. When the modem fires during a call or the screen peaks in brightness, the actual cell voltage drops below the hardware cutoff threshold — even though the OS still shows 25%. The fix is one full discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge, which forces the coulomb counter to reset against the new cell's actual curve.

Device not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if this battery sat below 2.5V per cell before installation the BMS will have entered lockout mode to prevent damage. The phone shows no response — no charging indicator, no boot logo. Connect the phone to a wall adapter (not a PC USB port, which may not supply enough current to wake the BMS) and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing any buttons. The BMS needs a sustained trickle current to exit lockout; once the cell climbs above approximately 2.7V, normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

The ZTE N960 shows the battery percentage jumping around erratically after I put in the new cell — is something wrong with it?

Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. The fuel gauge IC on the N960 is still running the discharge curve it learned from the old battery, and the new cell's voltage profile doesn't match that curve. Percentage readings bounce until the IC recalibrates. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — the coulomb counter resets against the new cell and readings stabilise.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in my N960 after fitting this battery — it's just doing a slow trickle charge.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC can default to a conservative constant-current mode because it hasn't confirmed the new cell's internal resistance profile yet. This is normal BMS behaviour, not a fault. Let that first charge complete fully at the slower rate without unplugging mid-cycle. On the second charge cycle, fast charging resumes once the IC has logged a full charge session against the replacement cell.

My ZTE N960 feels warm near the battery area while charging the new cell — should I be concerned?

A new high-impedance cell generates slightly more heat during the first few charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. This is expected and typically resolves after two or three full cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — or the heat continues past the third charge cycle, check that the battery contacts are fully seated and the connector is not partially engaged, which raises contact resistance and increases heat.
