Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZTE Vital / V987 Series — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Li3825T43P3h775549)
This 3.8V, 2500mAh (9.5Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the OEM battery in the ZTE Vital, UX990, Smile Q, V987, and compatible models. It matches the original voltage rail and connector footprint. Dimensions are 76.95 × 55.10 × 4.84 mm — verify against your existing cell before installation.
- V987 platform compatibility: The Vital, UX990, Smile Q, and V987 variants share the same 3.8V power architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell part number covers all of them. Swapping between any of these models does not require firmware changes or connector adapters.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the V987 platform. The BMS accepted the charge handshake on the first connection, held voltage above 3.6V through mid-discharge, and triggered cutoff correctly at the low-voltage threshold without erratic behavior.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard current. The fuel gauge IC in these ZTE models was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — giving it one clean cycle at low current lets it recalibrate before high-current charging pushes into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the ZTE Vital after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity defect. The ZTE Vital's modem and display together draw enough current that a new, uncalibrated cell can sag below the BMS cutoff threshold — even when the fuel gauge still reads 20–30%. The fuel gauge IC hasn't mapped the new cell's internal resistance, so it predicts remaining capacity incorrectly. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard current gives the coulomb counter enough data to update its model and stop triggering premature cutoffs.
ZTE Vital not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if this cell dropped below 2.5V per cell before installation, the BMS will lock out to prevent damage — leaving the phone completely unresponsive. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a USB port, and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing anything. Wall chargers deliver enough trickle voltage to nudge the BMS out of lockout. If the charge indicator does not appear within 30 minutes, confirm the charger output is at least 5V 1A.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my ZTE Vital still show the wrong battery percentage after I put in the new cell?
The fuel gauge IC in the Vital stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell — it doesn't automatically reset when you swap the battery. The percentage you see is the IC reading against outdated calibration data, not the actual state of charge of the new cell. Run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle the coulomb counter resets its baseline and percentage readings stabilise.
My ZTE Vital gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is that normal?
A new Li-ion cell typically has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC works slightly harder on the first few cycles, producing more heat than you'd expect. This is most noticeable during the first two or three charges and reduces as the cell breaks in. If the phone stays warm throughout the entire charge rather than cooling once it passes 80%, check that you are not charging inside a case — trapped heat on a new high-impedance cell slows the charge IC's current taper. Heat should be absent or minimal by the fourth charge cycle.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery in my ZTE Vital — what happened?
The USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge handshake on some ZTE models requires the BMS to confirm cell readiness before accepting elevated current. On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on a new cell often defaults to standard charge rates until it completes one full charge profile. Charge once at standard speed to 100%, then unplug and reconnect — most Vital units re-enable fast charging automatically on the second connection once the BMS has completed its initialisation pass.
