Fits Navman F20, F20 Euro, F30, F40 GPS navigators; replaces OEM part BT000021C.
3.7V 850mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full capacity for sustained turn-by-turn navigation on handheld sat-nav units.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with no locking tab; orientation marked on device housing.
Bench test showed clean voltage ramp on first charge with no BMS faults; cell accepted full capacity cycle immediately.
After fitting this cell, power the F20 fully on outdoors and let it acquire satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for first lock.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Navman F20 / F30 / F40 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT000021C)

This is a 3.7V 850mAh lithium-ion cell replacing part number BT000021C in the Navman F20, F20 Euro, F30, and F40 portable GPS navigators. It fits the same physical footprint at 51.50 × 38.00 × 6.00mm and uses the same connector as the original. When the factory cell no longer holds a charge, this swap restores full navigation capacity.

  • F20 / F30 / F40 platform compatibility: These models share a common board layout, the same 3.7V single-cell power rail, and identical battery connector pinout. One cell covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on GPS navigator hardware. The BMS held charge termination correctly at 4.2V and protected the cell at the low-voltage cutoff without tripping prematurely during satellite acquisition.
  • Cold-start satellite fix after power interruption: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors before your first drive. GPS navigators perform a full cold start after any complete power loss. First satellite fix typically takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view — subsequent warm starts are much faster once almanac data is cached.

GPS battery draining faster during active turn-by-turn navigation

Active navigation draws significantly more current than standby. The GPS receiver locks onto multiple satellites continuously, the processor recalculates routes in real time, and the display runs at full brightness. At 850mAh and 3.7V, this cell meets the original spec — but if drain still feels fast, lower screen brightness to cut display draw, which is the single largest variable load on these units.

F20 shutting off without a low-battery warning

This happens when the battery indicator is uncalibrated to the new cell. The device reads voltage against a stored discharge curve from the old, degraded battery. It skips the low-battery warning and hits the undervoltage cutoff threshold with no visual alert. Run two full charge-to-cutoff cycles outdoors with active navigation to let the firmware recalibrate the discharge curve. After that, the warning indicator should appear before shutdown at approximately 3.5V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Navman F20 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it's a known behaviour on these units. The F20 stores some route and POI data in RAM that relies on continuous battery power to retain its contents. A full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — clears that volatile memory. Export any saved routes to the SD card before swapping the cell next time, and re-import them after the new battery is fitted and the unit has booted cleanly.

The GPS took nearly 10 minutes to find satellites after fitting the replacement battery — did something go wrong?

Nothing went wrong. After a complete power interruption, the F20 loses its cached almanac and ephemeris data and has to perform a cold start. That means it downloads fresh satellite position data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles use the cached data and lock within a minute. Leave the unit stationary outdoors for the first fix — moving during a cold start extends acquisition time.

My Navman seems less accurate at low battery than it used to be — is the GPS receiver affected by voltage?

Some GPS units reduce receiver sensitivity as voltage drops to conserve power. On the F20, if the cell is discharging toward the 3.5V threshold, the unit may drop satellite count or widen position error before shutting off entirely. The fix is keeping the cell charged above that threshold — plug into the vehicle charger for longer trips rather than running the battery down mid-route. A fresh 850mAh cell at full charge gives the receiver full operating headroom from the start.
