This 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Alcatel One Touch 990, OT-990, One Touch 908, OT-908, and over 60 additional compatible models. It matches the OEM dimensions at 64.30 × 49.50 × 4.50mm and drops into the stock battery bay without modification. Capacity is rated at 5.55Wh, matching the original cell specification.

  • One Touch 990 and OT-908 platform fit: Both the 990 and 908 share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell — CAB31P0000C1 — covers the full range. The fuel gauge IC on both devices reads the same charge curve from this chemistry.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the One Touch 990 chassis. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, charge termination fired at the correct cutoff voltage, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state of charge without erratic jumps after the first full cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable any fast-charge mode for the first complete discharge-charge cycle. Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the One Touch 990

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. When the modem fires during a call or data burst, current draw spikes sharply. An aged cell — or a new cell that hasn't been calibrated — can't hold voltage above the BMS cutoff threshold under that load, so the device shuts off even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. After one full discharge-charge cycle, the coulomb counter maps the new cell's voltage curve and the shutdowns stop. If they persist past two full cycles, check that the battery contacts on the chassis are clean and making full contact with the cell terminals.

Phone reports wrong battery percentage after fitting the new cell

The fuel gauge IC on the One Touch 990 stores a learned discharge profile from the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual voltage-to-capacity behaviour, so the percentage reading drifts — sometimes jumping 10–15% in either direction. The fix is one complete cycle: drain the phone until it powers off automatically, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without removing the charger early. After that cycle, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates its endpoint references against the new cell and percentage reporting stabilises.

My Alcatel One Touch 990 won't power on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

Probably not dead, but the BMS has gone into lockout. If a Li-ion cell drops below roughly 2.5V during storage, the protection circuit blocks all current output to prevent cell damage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell to bring it above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone will boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working after I swapped the battery on my One Touch 990 — the phone charges, but slowly. What's wrong?

On first contact with a new cell, the charge IC on the One Touch 990 runs a detection handshake to verify cell impedance before enabling higher charge rates. If the cell impedance reads outside the expected range on that first cycle — which is common with a fresh cell — the IC defaults to a conservative charge rate as a safety fallback. Run one full slow charge to 100% without interruption. On the second cycle, the IC re-runs the handshake against the now-conditioned cell and fast charging re-enables automatically.

The phone feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the replacement cell — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected during the first few charge cycles on a new cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates a small amount of extra energy as heat until impedance settles. If the phone is uncomfortably hot to hold or the warmth continues past the third charge cycle, check that the battery is seated flat with no gap at the connector — a partially seated connector increases resistance at the contact point and generates localised heat.
