Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Arjo Flowtron ACS800 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (513400-01)
This is a 14.8V, 5200mAh Li-ion battery for the Arjo Flowtron ACS800 sequential compression device. The ACS800 uses this battery pack to deliver portable intermittent pneumatic compression therapy for DVT prevention and patient mobility. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification: 14.8V, 5200mAh (76.96Wh).
- Flowtron ACS800 platform fit: The ACS800 uses a 14.8V four-cell Li-ion configuration with a specific BMS handshake that governs charge acceptance and discharge cutoff. This pack matches that voltage rail and connector pinout so the device's charge circuit communicates correctly with the battery from first power-on.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the ACS800's full charge-to-discharge profile. The BMS reported state-of-charge accurately across all test cycles, and the pack held voltage under the compression pump's load surges without triggering low-voltage cutoff prematurely.
- Power-on self-test after installation: After fitting this battery, allow the ACS800 to complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power mid-sequence registers a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.
Why the ACS800 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The ACS800's charge IC applies a conservative acceptance threshold calibrated to the OEM cell's chemistry fingerprint. A new replacement cell hasn't yet established a charge history the BMS recognises, so the device reports low battery even when the pack is fully charged. This isn't a fault with the battery — it resolves after one complete charge-discharge cycle. Run the device through a full cycle before clinical use, and the BMS will re-register the pack's actual capacity correctly.
ACS800 won't power on after battery sat unused in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack drops below the ACS800's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — the device will not power on and the charger may show no activity. Place the battery on charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power the device. Most BMS circuits include a trickle-recovery mode that brings the cell voltage back above the 3.0V-per-cell threshold needed to re-enable full charging. If the charger shows no response after 30 minutes, check the pack voltage directly — below 10.0V total, the BMS may need a recovery charge from a compatible external source before the ACS800 charger takes over.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ACS800 keeps shutting off mid-treatment after I fitted the new battery — is this normal for the first few uses?
New Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 charge-discharge cycles, which causes the voltage to sag more sharply under the compression pump's load. The ACS800's BMS interprets that voltage sag as a low-battery condition and cuts the device off to protect the cells. This settles after the battery is cycled a few times as internal resistance drops. Run three full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use, and the shutdowns will stop.
The charge indicator on the ACS800 won't reach 100% on the first charge — it stops at around 80% and stays there.
The ACS800's charge IC applies a reduced charge limit on an unrecognised cell to prevent overcharge until it can verify the pack's chemistry response. This is a built-in conservative limit, not a battery defect. Complete one full discharge cycle — let the device run until it triggers the low-battery cutoff — then recharge fully. After that first full cycle, the charge IC will allow the pack to reach 100%.
The ACS800 failed its self-test after I swapped the battery, and now it won't clear the fault even after recharging.
A self-test fault that persists after recharging usually means the BMS learn cycle wasn't completed before the device ran its diagnostic. Power the ACS800 off completely, confirm the battery is seated fully in the connector, then power on and allow the entire startup sequence to finish without interruption — don't press any buttons during boot. If the fault still shows, discharge the pack fully, recharge to 100%, and reboot. The self-test should pass once the BMS has logged one complete charge cycle.
