Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Arjo Huntleigh Air Pump — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (513400-01)
This 14.8V, 5200mAh Li-ion battery replaces part number 513400-01 in the Arjo Huntleigh air pump range. These pumps are used in clinical and home healthcare settings for pressure relief and patient mobility support. Portable operation depends entirely on the battery holding charge through shift-length use cycles.
- Arjo Huntleigh air pump platform: These pumps share a common battery bay and BMS handshake protocol tied to the 513400-01 part number. The BMS reads cell chemistry and voltage signature at startup — using a cell that matches the OEM voltage profile keeps the boot sequence from flagging a fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, full-load draw, and BMS communication verification. The protection circuit responded correctly to charge cutoff and low-voltage thresholds without triggering false fault codes on the pump's diagnostic display.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the air pump to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Medical-grade BMS firmware runs a verification sequence at startup — cutting power mid-sequence locks in a false battery fault that won't clear until the next clean reboot.
Why the air pump won't complete its boot sequence on a new battery
The pump's BMS firmware applies a stricter voltage acceptance window than consumer electronics. A new cell that sat in a warehouse for several months may arrive at 13.2–13.6V — below the threshold the device expects to see before it clears the boot gate. This doesn't mean the battery is faulty. Connecting it to the charger first and bringing it to full charge before fitting it into the pump resolves this in nearly every case.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge cycle
On the first charge, the pump's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unrecognised cell. This causes the charge cycle to terminate early — the indicator stops at 85–95% and the pump reports partial charge. It is not a fault with the battery or charger. Run one complete charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle and the charge IC recalibrates its end-of-charge voltage target, after which the indicator reaches full correctly. Do not use the battery in clinical rotation until that first full cycle is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions
The pump is alarming low battery straight after I charged this new battery — is the cell dead already?
It isn't. The BMS sets its low-battery alarm threshold against a learned capacity baseline, and a brand-new cell hasn't completed that learning cycle yet. The alarm triggers because the firmware doesn't have enough charge history to trust the state-of-charge reading. Run one full charge, use the pump until it shuts down on low battery, then charge it fully again — after that first complete cycle the alarm threshold recalibrates and the false trigger stops.
The pump won't power on at all — I fitted the new battery and nothing happens when I press the power button.
A cell that has been in storage can self-discharge below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 12.0V for a 14.8V Li-ion pack — and the BMS locks output to protect the cells from damage. Connect the battery to the charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power the pump on. Most BMS circuits enter a recovery charge mode at low voltage and will release the output lock once the pack climbs above approximately 12.5V.
The pump is shutting off unexpectedly during use — it's not showing low battery, it just cuts out.
New Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 charge cycles before the electrolyte fully wets the electrode surfaces. Under the sustained load of the air pump motor, that resistance causes a momentary voltage sag that the BMS reads as a fault condition and responds to with an emergency cutoff. This improves noticeably after 5–8 full cycles. Until then, avoid starting the pump on a partially charged battery — always start from a full charge so the resting voltage gives enough headroom above the BMS sag threshold.
