Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Audio Guidie Personalguide PGI/AV & III Audioguides — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion cell for the Audio Guidie Personalguide PGI/AV and Personalguide III handheld audioguide systems. These devices are used in museums, galleries, and attractions to deliver audio commentary to visitors. When the original cell degrades, this replacement restores full power to the unit.
- PGI/AV and Personalguide III shared battery platform: Both models run from the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion pack at the same physical footprint — 52.00 × 33.87 × 5.26mm. The BMS voltage thresholds and connector pinout are identical across the two, so one cell covers both units.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on audioguide-class loads. The BMS engaged cutoff correctly at both ends — no undervoltage passthrough and no overcharge drift observed.
- First-charge protocol for audioguide units: Audioguide docking cradles draw charge current through the unit's internal charge circuit. If the replacement cell arrives at low state of charge, seat it in the dock for a full charge cycle before powering the device on — the boot sequence requires minimum voltage to initialise the audio playback firmware correctly.
Personalguide not booting after new battery installation
The Personalguide's firmware initialisation sequence pulls a short high-current burst at startup to load the audio index from flash. If the replacement cell is below roughly 3.5V at installation, that burst triggers the BMS undervoltage protection and the unit shuts off before the boot screen appears. The unit isn't faulty — it simply lacks enough voltage to complete the startup draw. Place it in the docking cradle for at least one full charge cycle, then power on. If the cradle indicator light doesn't respond, check cradle contact pins for oxidation before assuming the battery is at fault.
Audioguide unit draining faster than expected between visitor sessions
Personalguide units left powered on between sessions continue drawing current through the audio controller and display backlight even when idle. A degraded original cell accelerates this pattern, but a fresh 1100mAh cell can still deplete quickly if units are not docked between tours. Check whether the fleet management cradles are making reliable contact — poor dock seating means cells charge partially and start each session below full capacity. Confirm each unit reads at or above 4.1V before distributing to visitors.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Personalguide unit powers off immediately when I press the play button — new battery installed, won't stay on.
The play button triggers the audio amplifier, which pulls a short current spike the BMS treats as an overload if the cell isn't fully charged. This is the same undervoltage cutoff that blocks the boot sequence — the unit powers down to protect the cell. Seat the device in its docking cradle for a complete charge cycle before attempting playback. Once the cell reaches 4.2V, the BMS allows full load current and the unit will stay on through normal use.
The docking cradle shows a full-charge light but the Personalguide dies quickly during use — why?
A full-charge indicator on the cradle confirms the charge circuit stopped pushing current, but it doesn't confirm the cell actually holds that capacity. If the cradle contact pins are oxidised or the unit isn't seated flush, the charge circuit can terminate early at a false full. Remove the unit, clean the gold contact pads on both the device and cradle with a dry cloth, reseat, and watch whether the charge light cycles off again within minutes — if it does, the cell wasn't fully charged the first time. A genuine full charge on a fresh 1100mAh cell should take 1.5 to 2 hours from a depleted state.
Wireless sync between the Personalguide and the content management station is dropping or running very slowly after the battery swap.
The Personalguide's wireless radio is voltage-sensitive — transmission power steps down when cell voltage sags below approximately 3.7V, which causes the content management station to see a weak or unstable signal. This often happens when a replacement cell was synced before completing a full first charge. Charge the unit fully, confirm the voltage is at or above 4.1V, then retry the sync session. If drop-outs persist at full charge, check that the sync station antenna hasn't shifted — radio issues after a battery swap are almost always a charge-state problem, not a hardware fault.
