The Nexio S160 is a Windows Mobile handheld used for mobile business computing, and this cell restores full power to the device when the original battery can no longer hold a charge.

  • Nexio S160 fitment: The S160 uses a single-cell Li-Polymer pack with a specific BMS handshake tied to the SSB-160ELP part number. Cells sharing this part number are electrically matched to the S160's charge management circuit and connector pinout.

Why the Nexio S160 loses settings and contacts after a battery swap

The S160 runs on Windows Mobile and keeps active RAM — including contacts, calendar data, and open files — powered entirely by the main battery cell. There is no secondary backup cell in this device. The moment the main pack is removed, RAM loses power and all volatile data is gone. A full ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center sync to a PC before removing the battery is the only way to protect that data.

Nexio S160 stuck on boot screen after fitting a new battery

A new Li-Polymer cell shipped in storage state may arrive below the minimum voltage the S160's boot sequence requires — typically under 3.2V. The device draws enough current on boot to trip the BMS low-voltage cutoff before the OS finishes loading. Connect the S160 to its charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting a first boot. Once the cell reaches approximately 3.5V, the boot sequence will complete normally.
