Fits Samsung Nexio S160 pocket computer; replaces OEM battery SSB-160ELP and equivalent part numbers.
3.7V, 1600mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers rated capacity for full-day mobile computing and wireless scanning use.
Battery slides into the rear slot with a single locking tab; connector is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in a Nexio S160 boot cycle; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion without fault codes.
Perform a full data sync to your host computer before removing the old battery — the S160 stores open files and application state in RAM powered by the main cell, and removing power without syncing causes data loss.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Nexio S160 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SSB-160ELP)

This is a 3.7V, 1600mAh lithium-polymer replacement battery for the Samsung Nexio S160 PDA. It carries OEM part number SSB-160ELP and fits the S160 pocket computer directly. The Nexio S160 is a Windows Mobile handheld used for mobile business computing, and this cell restores full power to the device when the original battery can no longer hold a charge.

  • Nexio S160 fitment: The S160 uses a single-cell Li-Polymer pack with a specific BMS handshake tied to the SSB-160ELP part number. Cells sharing this part number are electrically matched to the S160's charge management circuit and connector pinout.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the S160 platform. The BMS accepted the pack without fault codes, and the fuel gauge reported accurate state-of-charge throughout the cycle.
  • RAM data protection before swap: Sync all open files and application state to a host computer before removing the battery. The Nexio S160 stores active RAM contents on main battery power — cutting that power without syncing first will wipe unsaved data and open application state permanently.

Why the Nexio S160 loses settings and contacts after a battery swap

The S160 runs on Windows Mobile and keeps active RAM — including contacts, calendar data, and open files — powered entirely by the main battery cell. There is no secondary backup cell in this device. The moment the main pack is removed, RAM loses power and all volatile data is gone. A full ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center sync to a PC before removing the battery is the only way to protect that data.

Nexio S160 stuck on boot screen after fitting a new battery

A new Li-Polymer cell shipped in storage state may arrive below the minimum voltage the S160's boot sequence requires — typically under 3.2V. The device draws enough current on boot to trip the BMS low-voltage cutoff before the OS finishes loading. Connect the S160 to its charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting a first boot. Once the cell reaches approximately 3.5V, the boot sequence will complete normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nexio S160 wiped all my contacts when I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it is a property of the hardware, not a fault with the battery. The S160 holds contacts, calendar entries, and open application state in volatile RAM powered directly by the main cell — remove the cell and that RAM clears instantly. Always run a full ActiveSync sync to a PC before pulling the battery, and your data will be waiting to restore when the new cell is fitted.

New battery fitted but the Nexio S160 won't finish booting — it just freezes or resets on the startup screen.

A new Li-Polymer pack often ships in storage state, which means it can arrive below 3.2V. The S160 boot sequence draws enough current at that voltage to trip the battery's low-voltage protection cutoff mid-boot. Plug the device into its charger before attempting to boot, let it charge for at least 30 minutes, then power it on — at 3.5V or above the OS will load without issue.

Battery life on the Nexio S160 dropped noticeably after a few months of warehouse use — why?

Warehouse scanning puts a different load on the S160 than standard office use. The barcode scanner LED and any active wireless radio draw significantly more current than standby operation, and frequent shallow charge cycles — topping up after short bursts rather than allowing fuller discharge — accelerate lithium-polymer capacity fade. Let the cell discharge to around 20% before recharging to slow that degradation; a full charge-to-20% cycle will give you a more accurate picture of remaining capacity.
