Fits Sonocaddie V350, V500, and G-4L GPS navigators; replaces OEM part numbers HE9701N and G-4L.
3.7V 1700mAh Li-ion cell delivers 6.29Wh to restore full power capacity on aging V350 units without voltage sag during active navigation.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay; locking tab seats flush with the device housing when fully inserted.
We bench-tested this cell in a V350 unit; BMS accepted the charge cycle cleanly and held voltage stable across a full discharge curve.
After fitting this battery, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before first use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for initial lock versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sonocaddie V350 / V500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HE9701N)

This 3.7V 1700mAh Li-ion cell replaces the OEM battery in the Sonocaddie V350 and V500 handheld golf GPS navigators. It uses part numbers HE9701N and G-4L, fitting both units directly. Dimensions are 66.20 × 44.00 × 5.10mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.

  • V350 and V500 compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V battery rail and share the HE9701N cell. The connector and BMS handshake are identical across this generation of Sonocaddie GPS units, so one replacement cell covers either device.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS held the 3.7V nominal rail cleanly, with no voltage sag under the GPS receiver and display draw that these units produce during active navigation.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the V350 or V500 fully on outdoors before your round. The unit performs a cold start after any full power interruption — first satellite fix typically takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts lock much faster. Do this at the car park, not on the first tee.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the V350

When cell voltage drops toward the low-battery threshold, some GPS units reduce receiver sensitivity to protect remaining charge. On the V350, this shows up as distance readings that jump between values or fail to update as you walk. The GPS receiver draws more power during active signal processing, and the BMS begins throttling it before the low-battery warning appears on screen. Keep the cell topped up before a full round — the receiver runs at full sensitivity above approximately 3.5V.

V350 shutting off mid-round with no warning indicator

An aged OEM cell loses capacity unevenly, which throws off the voltage-based fuel gauge the V350 uses to show remaining charge. The unit's shutdown threshold gets hit before the visual warning registers as critical. This happens because the old cell's internal resistance causes voltage to sag sharply under load, even when the indicator still shows bars. Fitting a new cell with stable internal resistance brings the shutdown threshold and the on-screen indicator back into sync.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sonocaddie V350 lost all my saved courses after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The V350 stores course data and saved routes in memory backed by the battery. A full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — can wipe that data depending on how long the cell was out. Before your next swap, note which courses are loaded. After fitting the new cell, re-download or re-sync courses via the Sonocaddie update tool before heading out.

The V350 took nearly 10 minutes to find satellites after I installed the replacement battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris data — the satellite position data it uses for a fast fix. Without that data, the unit must perform a cold start and rebuild its satellite picture from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once the V350 has completed one full cold-start fix, warm starts on subsequent power cycles lock in under a minute.

Why does my V350 drain noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus just carrying it with the screen on?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously at full polling rate, which adds significant draw on top of the backlit display. Standby or map-only mode reduces how often the receiver pings satellites. On a 1700mAh cell at full receiver load, the drain rate is measurably higher than in low-activity modes. Reduce screen brightness to its lowest usable setting and the receiver load drops — that's the single biggest lever you have on battery draw during a round.
