Fits Celestron CoursePro GPS navigator and CoursePro Elite models; replaces OEM part number HC11C08.
3.7V, 1350mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers consistent voltage throughout field navigation without mid-route voltage sag.
Connector seats flush into the battery compartment with positive terminal aligned to the spring contact.
Bench testing showed the BMS accepted a full charge cycle; voltage held steady under continuous GPS receiver draw.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes five to ten minutes for first fix versus under one minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Celestron CoursePro / Course Pro Elite — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HC11C08)

This 3.7V, 1350mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original HC11C08 battery in the Celestron CoursePro and Course Pro Elite handheld GPS navigators (models 44870 and 44871). It matches the original cell's voltage, capacity, and physical dimensions — 50.80 × 34.00 × 7.60mm — so it seats correctly without modification. Swap it in when your unit no longer holds a charge through a full navigation session.

  • CoursePro and Course Pro Elite compatibility: Both the 44870 and 44871 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V power rail, so one cell covers both units. The integrated BMS communicates charge state to the firmware the same way across both models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the bench, confirmed the BMS reported accurate state-of-charge to the device firmware, and verified the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • First-use satellite acquisition: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors before relying on it for navigation. The GPS performs a cold start after any full power interruption, which means first satellite fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced when the CoursePro battery runs low

At low battery, some GPS units step down receiver sensitivity to extend remaining power. On the CoursePro, this can cause position drift or slower track updates before the unit shuts off. A degraded original battery hits this low-power threshold faster than a fresh cell, so accuracy problems often appear earlier in a session than expected. Fitting a new 1350mAh cell restores the full operating voltage window and keeps the receiver running at full sensitivity throughout use.

CoursePro shuts off without warning before the battery indicator reaches empty

This happens when an aged cell's actual capacity has dropped well below what the firmware expects. The on-screen indicator is calibrated against a full-capacity cell, so when internal resistance rises, voltage collapses suddenly under GPS load — hitting the hardware cutoff while the display still shows one or two bars. A new HC11C08 cell brings internal resistance back in line with the firmware's charge model. After fitting, run the unit through one full charge cycle outdoors so the indicator re-syncs to the cell's actual voltage curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My CoursePro lost all saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The CoursePro stores some route and waypoint data in battery-backed RAM, which loses power the moment the old cell is removed. Any data not written to internal flash before the swap will be gone. Before pulling the battery, export or note any critical routes using the device's save function. After fitting the new cell, re-enter routes manually or sync from a connected device.

The CoursePro took nearly 10 minutes to get a satellite fix after the battery swap — something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Any full power interruption clears the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris data, forcing a cold start. Cold starts on the CoursePro typically take 5–10 minutes to acquire enough satellites for a reliable fix, especially indoors or under tree cover. Take the unit outside to an open sky after the swap and leave it stationary. Once it completes the first fix, subsequent warm starts will lock on in under a minute.

The CoursePro drains significantly faster when I'm actively navigating a course versus just carrying it — is this cell underpowered?

The capacity is correct at 1350mAh — the drain difference is the device, not the cell. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, display backlight, and course-tracking processor simultaneously, which draws several times more current than standby. Reducing display brightness during active use is the single most effective way to extend a charge on this unit. The receiver and backlight together account for the majority of the load at full brightness.
