Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Nuvi 2555LMT / 2495LMT Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (361-00035-03)
This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell replacing OEM part 361-00035-03 and 361-00035-07 in the Garmin Nuvi 2555LMT and related portable GPS navigators. It fits the compact battery bay on the Nuvi 2555LMT, 2555LT, 2495LMT, and 2475LT among 22 additional Nuvi variants. Capacity matches the original at 4.44Wh — no modification needed to fit or connect.
- Nuvi 2400/2500 series compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol, which is why one cell covers the full range. Swapping to a different voltage or a non-communicating cell trips the BMS and prevents charging.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a Nuvi 2555LMT unit and confirmed BMS handshake, stable charge acceptance at 4.2V cutoff, and correct low-battery threshold signalling to the device firmware.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this battery, power the unit on outdoors before driving and let it acquire a satellite fix from a stationary position. A full power interruption triggers a cold start — the GPS almanac must rebuild, and first fix outdoors from cold can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute.
Why the Nuvi 2555LMT shuts off without warning at apparent mid-charge levels
The Nuvi's battery indicator is calibrated against the voltage curve of the original cell. An aged or replacement cell with a slightly different discharge curve causes the indicator to misread state of charge. The firmware triggers shutdown at a voltage threshold — typically around 3.2V — regardless of what the on-screen percentage shows. After fitting this replacement, run two full charge-discharge cycles to let the firmware recalibrate its voltage-to-percentage mapping and restore accurate low-battery warnings.
Saved routes and favourites missing after battery replacement
Some Nuvi models hold recent route history and certain user settings in battery-backed volatile RAM — not in flash storage. When the battery is fully removed, power to that RAM drops to zero and the data clears. Favourites and saved places stored to internal flash survive the swap; actively loaded routes or unsaved recent destinations do not. Before removing the old battery, navigate to the Favourites menu and confirm your key locations are saved to the device — those will persist through the swap intact.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my Nuvi 2555LMT taking much longer to find satellites after I replaced the battery?
A full battery removal cuts power to the GPS receiver's memory, wiping the stored almanac and ephemeris data the chip uses for fast fixes. Without that data, the receiver has to download a fresh almanac from scratch — that's a cold start, and it takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. This is normal and happens once. Leave the unit stationary outside until it locks, and every subsequent power-on will return to normal warm-start fix times of under a minute.
My Nuvi shuts off suddenly even when the battery indicator still shows charge remaining — what's happening?
The firmware shuts the unit down when cell voltage hits approximately 3.2V, regardless of the percentage shown on screen. The indicator percentage is calculated from a learned voltage curve — after a battery swap, that learned curve no longer matches the new cell, so the displayed percentage is wrong. Run the unit through two complete charge and discharge cycles without interrupting them. After two full cycles the firmware re-learns the curve and the indicator tracks accurately again.
The GPS drains much faster when I'm actively navigating than when it's just sitting on the dash — is the battery faulty?
It's not a fault. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously, keeps the display at working brightness, and recalculates routes in real time — that combination draws significantly more current than standby. The 1200mAh cell in this unit is matched to the original spec, so the draw rate is the same as a new OEM unit. If drain still seems excessive, lower screen brightness one or two steps in Settings → Display — the backlight is the single largest current draw on the device.
