Fits CleanMate QQ-5a, QQ-5S, and Pro QQ6 robotic vacuums with standard Ni-MH pack slot.
14.4V, 2500mAh Ni-MH chemistry restores full motor torque and suction across all floor surfaces.
Connector slides straight into the vacuum's battery compartment with a single locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this cell on QQ-5a motor load—BMS fired normally on first cycle with no cutoff delays.
Do not leave the vacuum on its charging dock continuously; Ni-MH packs fade rapidly under constant trickle charge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

CleanMate QQ-5a / QQ-5S / Pro QQ6 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 2500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the CleanMate QQ-5a, QQ-5S, and Pro QQ6 robotic vacuum cleaners. It slots into the same bay as the original pack and runs the drive motors and suction fan at the correct voltage rail. Capacity is rated at 36Wh — identical to the factory specification.

  • QQ-5a, QQ-5S, and Pro QQ6 compatibility: All three models share the same 14.4V battery bay, connector orientation, and BMS communication protocol, which is why one pack covers the full range. Swapping between these models requires no adapters.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full discharge and recharge on a QQ-5a unit. The BMS accepted the cell correctly, maintained stable voltage under combined drive and suction load, and did not trigger overcurrent cutoff during carpet-resistance simulation.
  • Dock charging habit on robotic vacuums: Do not leave the QQ-5a sitting on the dock continuously between cleaning sessions. Robotic vacuums on permanent dock charge receive a constant trickle that degrades Ni-MH cells significantly faster. Charge to full, then remove the unit from the dock until the next run.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This is a voltage sag issue, not always a capacity issue. When the filter is partially blocked, the suction motor draws more current than rated to maintain airflow. That extra draw pulls the pack voltage down under load faster than the indicator — which reads resting voltage — can track. The result is reduced suction while the indicator still shows a full or mid charge. Clean the filter first. If sag continues on a clean filter, the cell itself has lost capacity and needs replacing.

Motor cuts out mid-clean then restarts on its own

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a loose connection. It happens when sustained restricted airflow — usually a clogged filter or a tangled brush roll — forces the motor to pull current beyond the BMS threshold. The pack shuts the output, the motor stops, and the BMS resets after a few seconds. Check the filter and brush roll before assuming the battery is faulty. If the cutout still occurs after clearing the restriction, measure pack voltage at rest — it should read above 14.0V. Below that, the cells are weak enough that normal motor-start current is triggering the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

The QQ-5a ran for ages on the old battery but the new one seems to lose suction way earlier — what's going on?

A partially blocked filter is the most common cause. When airflow is restricted, the motor draws more current to compensate, which pulls pack voltage down under load faster than the indicator shows. The vacuum reads as "charged" but the motor is already starved. Clean the filter and brush roll completely, then run a full charge cycle before testing again.

My QQ-5a stops mid-clean for a few seconds then starts again on its own — is that the battery failing?

That behaviour is the BMS tripping on overcurrent, then resetting. It usually means the motor is working harder than normal — most often because the filter is blocked or the brush roll is jammed with hair. Clear both, then run the vacuum again. If the cutout continues on a clean machine, check resting pack voltage: anything below 14.0V after a full charge means the cells have degraded and the pack needs replacing.

The replacement battery has been on the dock for two weeks but the QQ-5a still doesn't hold a charge as long as expected — did I get a dud?

Continuous dock sitting is the likely culprit, not a faulty cell. Ni-MH packs on permanent trickle charge develop capacity fade quickly — two weeks of constant dock connection can measurably reduce usable capacity on a brand-new pack. Remove the unit from the dock, run it until the low-battery warning triggers, then do a full uninterrupted charge. Repeat that cycle two or three times to condition the cells before judging capacity.
