Vileda Quick & Clean — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (8654396211)

This is a 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery for the Vileda Quick & Clean cordless handheld vacuum. It fits the Quick & Clean and VI409842 models. When the original cell loses charge capacity or stops holding a charge entirely, this replacement restores the vacuum to full working order.

  • Quick & Clean and VI409842 compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V motor rail and share the 8654396211 cell format. The connector type, BMS handshake, and physical envelope are identical across this range, so one cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the Quick & Clean platform. The BMS responded correctly to both low-voltage cutoff and charge termination — no false trips or charge refusal on the stock charger.
  • Dock charging behaviour on this model: The Quick & Clean dock does not cut power when the cell reaches full charge. Leaving the vacuum on the dock permanently causes trickle charge heat buildup inside the cell. Charge to full, then remove it from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects under load. A partially blocked filter increases resistance at the fan, which spikes current draw and causes the BMS to reduce output voltage to protect the cell. The result is noticeable suction loss even with charge remaining. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers, the cell is not the cause.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is sustained against a blockage or heavily loaded carpet, current spikes past the BMS protection threshold and the circuit opens. The motor stops, the BMS resets after a few seconds, and it starts again. Clear any blockage, check the filter, and confirm the cell voltage reads above 3.5V on a multimeter before assuming the battery needs replacing.

My Vileda Quick & Clean loses suction well before the battery light comes on — is the new battery going to fix this?

Not necessarily. Suction loss before the low-battery indicator usually points to a blocked filter forcing the motor to work harder, which spikes current draw and drops output voltage under load. We saw this exact behaviour on the bench — swapping the cell made no difference until the filter was cleared. Clean or replace the filter first; if suction holds after that, the battery is the culprit.

The Quick & Clean keeps cutting out after a few seconds of use and then starts again — what's causing that?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip. When the motor pulls more current than the protection circuit allows — usually from a partial blockage or a clogged filter — the BMS opens the circuit and shuts the motor off. It resets itself after a short pause, which is why it restarts. Clear any blockage, clean the filter, then check that resting cell voltage is above 3.5V before concluding the battery is faulty.

I've had my Vileda Quick & Clean on the charging dock every day and the battery seems to have gotten worse over time — is that normal?

Yes, and it's one of the most common causes of capacity fade on this model. The Quick & Clean dock does not stop delivering charge once the cell is full, so the cell sits in a warm, trickle-charged state for hours at a time. That degrades lithium-ion cells faster than regular charge-discharge cycling. Charge the replacement fully, then remove it from the dock — only return it when the battery is depleted.
