Fits HOBOT 168 window cleaning robot and replaces OEM part number HB16815.
14.8V, 800mAh Li-ion cell powers the dual-side cleaning motor for extended operation cycles.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side.
We bench-tested this pack on a 168 unit; BMS accepted charge without fault codes on first insert.
Remove from the charging dock immediately after reaching full capacity — continuous dock trickle charge degrades this cell's capacity within weeks.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HOBOT 168 / 268 Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HB16815)

This is a 14.8V, 800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the HOBOT window cleaning robot. It fits the HOBOT 168, 188, 198, and 268 series robots. The OEM part number is HB16815.

  • 168 / 188 / 198 / 268 platform fit: These models share the same 14.8V battery rail, physical form factor, and BMS handshake protocol. The HB16815 part number covers the full range — swapping between these models does not require a different cell configuration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a HOBOT 168 unit and confirmed the BMS completed full charge cycles without triggering protection cutoff. Voltage at rest post-charge held at approximately 16.6V, consistent with a fully balanced 4S Li-ion pack.
  • Window robot charging protocol: Do not leave the HOBOT docked on the charger between cleaning sessions. The robot's charging circuit does not actively terminate once full. Continuous trickle current into a Li-ion pack accelerates cell degradation — charge to full, then disconnect and store the robot off the dock.

Why the HOBOT stops mid-cycle and won't restart immediately

The HOBOT uses suction to hold itself against the glass. If the battery voltage sags under the combined load of the drive motor and suction motor, the BMS can trip an overcurrent cutoff. This is more likely on larger panes where the robot runs longer sustained cycles. The pack needs a short rest for the BMS to reset before the robot will power back on. A degraded original battery reaches this sag threshold much earlier in the cycle — a fresh cell at full 14.8V nominal holds the load longer before voltage drops to the trip point.

HOBOT shows full charge indicator but stops cleaning after a short run

This happens when the pack's cell capacity has dropped but the charge indicator still reads full based on resting voltage alone. The robot's onboard indicator measures terminal voltage at rest, not actual stored energy. Under motor load, a degraded pack drops voltage sharply and the BMS cuts out — even though the indicator showed green seconds earlier. Replacing the battery with a fresh HB16815 cell restores the gap between resting voltage and under-load voltage, so the robot completes full cleaning passes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HOBOT stops on the glass and won't move, then starts again a few seconds later — what's causing that?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip. The suction and drive motors together pull more current than the degraded cell can deliver without voltage sagging below the protection threshold. The BMS cuts power briefly, then resets once voltage recovers. Replace the battery and confirm the resting voltage after a full charge reads at least 16.4V — if it does, the pack is healthy and the cycling should stop.

The HOBOT charges fine on the dock but the cleaning cycle is noticeably shorter than it used to be — why?

Li-ion cells lose usable capacity after repeated charge cycles, even if the robot still powers on and shows a full charge. The indicator reads resting terminal voltage, which stays close to nominal even on a degraded pack. Under the combined load of the suction and movement motors, the actual energy stored is much lower, so the BMS hits its low-voltage cutoff sooner. Fit a new HB16815 cell — after the first full charge, check that the robot completes at least one full window panel without cutting out.

I left the HOBOT on the charging dock for several weeks while not using it — now it barely holds a charge. Did I damage the battery?

Yes — extended continuous dock charging on a Li-ion pack causes trickle charge stress, which permanently degrades cell capacity. The HOBOT charger does not have active charge termination that fully isolates the pack once charged. At that point the cells cannot be recovered. Going forward, charge the replacement HB16815 to full, disconnect the robot from the dock, and store it off charge until the next use.
