Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

M3 Mobile UL20F / UL20 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (UL20-BATT-F67)
This is a 3.7V, 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the M3 Mobile UL20F and UL20 rugged handheld barcode scanners. It matches the OEM part number UL20-BATT-F67 and fits the same battery bay without modification. Both voltage and capacity figures match the original pack specification.
- UL20F and UL20 platform fit: Both models share the same 3.7V power rail, battery bay dimensions, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers either unit. The connector pinout and communication lines are identical across the range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the UL20 platform. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination and low-voltage cutoff. No false trips or charge refusal occurred during testing.
- First-shift preparation on cradle-charged devices: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum charge — starting fully charged prevents the BMS from tripping on that first burst of rapid scans.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
A charging dock error on a freshly installed pack is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a fault with the cell itself. Dock contacts and battery terminals accumulate oxide and debris in warehouse environments, and even a small resistance increase can push the voltage drop outside the charger's acceptance window. Wipe the gold contacts on the battery and the dock pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the pack firmly. If the error clears, the cell charges normally — the dock was reading the contact drop as a pack fault.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a rapid scan sequence, the imager trigger current and the wireless radio transmit pulse hit the battery at the same time. If the pack voltage sags below the radio module's minimum operating threshold in that window, the wireless stack drops and the scanner appears to freeze or disconnect. This is more pronounced with a degraded original pack but can also occur if a new replacement pack is installed below 30% charge. Charge the new pack fully in the cradle before field use — a full cell absorbs the combined inrush without the voltage sag that trips the radio.

Frequently Asked Questions
My UL20F scanner stops reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a new pack fresh out of packaging may sit below 3.4V after storage. At that level the imager powers on but can't sustain the laser or illumination through a full decode cycle. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge the new pack fully before use. Once the cell is above 3.6V, the imager fires cleanly and reads hold correctly.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift — is that normal with this battery?
Sustained warmth after an extended shift is expected on the UL20 platform. The housing is sealed for rugged use, so heat from the combined scan-plus-wireless draw has limited paths out. What to watch for is heat that builds within the first hour of a shift — that points to a cell with internal resistance higher than spec, which causes excess heat under load. A healthy 5200mAh pack at 3.7V runs warm but not hot; if the battery is uncomfortably hot to hold after a short session, check that the cell contacts are clean and the pack is fully seated.
The UL20 isn't lasting through a full shift anymore — why would a new battery degrade this fast?
Shallow cycling is the main cause of faster-than-expected capacity fade on scanner batteries. If the pack is topped off in the cradle after every short break rather than allowed to discharge to around 20–30% before recharging, the battery accumulates partial-cycle stress and loses usable capacity within weeks. The other factor is wireless polling frequency — high-frequency Bluetooth or Wi-Fi beacon intervals draw continuous background current that adds up across a shift. Set the wireless polling interval to the longest value your WMS allows and run the pack down to below 30% before each cradle charge.
