Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra TC15 / TN28 / U30 — 3.87V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTRY-TN2X-1XMA1-01)
This 3.87V, 5150mAh (19.93Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Zebra TC15, TN28, and U30 rugged mobile computers. These handhelds are built for high-throughput warehouse, retail, and logistics environments where a dead battery mid-shift stops the whole line. Swap this pack in and you're back scanning without pulling the device out of rotation.
- TC15, TN28, and U30 compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The TC15 and TN28 run the same voltage rail at 3.87V nominal, so the same cell and protection circuit works across the platform without firmware conflicts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the TC15 and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the device — charge status displayed accurately, and the protection circuit tripped as expected at both high-current inrush and low-voltage cutoff thresholds.
- First-shift charging protocol: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before starting pick-and-pack work. Scan trigger inrush current spikes hardest when the cell is near minimum charge, and a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips that can lock the device on the first shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Charging errors on a freshly installed battery are almost always a contact resistance issue, not a cell fault. The TC15 cradle uses gold-plated pogo pins that oxidise or collect debris in dusty warehouse environments. Even minor fouling raises contact resistance enough to trigger a charging fault. Wipe the contacts on both the battery pack and the cradle with a dry cloth, reseat the device firmly, and the error clears in most cases.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a fast scan burst, the imager and the Wi-Fi radio draw current simultaneously — combined inrush can pull the cell voltage below the threshold the radio needs to hold its connection. This shows up as the TC15 dropping off the network mid-session, not as a complete power loss. If it happens consistently, check that the cell is above 3.6V before starting a high-frequency scanning task. A full charge before a heavy shift eliminates most instances of this fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TC15 won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — the scanner triggers but nothing registers. What's wrong?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire correctly, and if the replacement pack shipped at storage charge (~30–40%), the cell may be too low to sustain imager power through the trigger pulse. Place the TC15 in its cradle and charge fully before scanning — the imager draw on the TC15 is enough to cause this at anything below 3.5V. Once the pack reads full on the device status bar, the imager will perform normally.
The TC15 runs through this battery faster than the old one did, even though it's the same 5150mAh rating. What's happening?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling both pull current simultaneously, and a new cell has higher internal resistance than an aged OEM pack that's been conditioned over hundreds of cycles — this reverses after 5–10 full charge cycles. Run the pack through complete charge and discharge cycles over the first week of use. After conditioning, internal resistance drops and the cell delivers its full rated capacity more efficiently across a shift.
The TC15 feels noticeably warm after an extended shift using the new battery. Is that a fault?
Sustained imager use combined with continuous Wi-Fi polling generates real heat inside the TC15's enclosed housing, and a new cell running at peak output adds to that. Surface warmth — where you can hold the device comfortably — is within normal operating range. If the device triggers a thermal warning on screen or shuts down automatically, let it cool to ambient temperature, then check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flush, as poor contact forces higher current draw and accelerates heat build-up.
