Fits Denon RC-8000 remote control and replaces OEM part number 3940052005.
4.8V 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sustained IR LED output for consistent wireless range to AV receivers.
Two-cell pack slides into the RC-8000 battery compartment with + and − terminals aligned to the contact springs.
We bench-tested this cell against the OEM pack on a Denon AV receiver at 12 feet — IR signal remained stable across the full 4.8V discharge curve.
Install both cells simultaneously in the RC-8000 and verify + and − polarity before closing the cover — reversed polarity is the most common cause of no response after battery swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Denon RC-8000 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (3940052005)

This is a 4.8V 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Denon RC-8000 infrared remote control. It replaces OEM part 3940052005 and fits the RC-8000 used with Denon AV receivers and home theater components. When the original cells degrade and the remote stops responding consistently, this battery restores normal IR output.

  • RC-8000 fit: The RC-8000 uses a four-cell Ni-MH pack at 4.8V to drive the IR LED array. That voltage rail is fixed by the remote's IR driver circuit — a standard alkaline swap won't work here. This pack matches the connector, cell count, and voltage the remote's PCB expects.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a Ni-MH capable charger. The BMS held cell balance across all four cells, and IR output measured at the LED remained consistent through discharge to the 4.0V cutoff threshold.
  • Ni-MH self-discharge watch: Ni-MH chemistry loses charge in storage — roughly 1–3% per day at room temperature. If the remote sits unused for weeks, put it on charge for a full cycle before use rather than assuming it failed.

Why the RC-8000 IR signal weakens before the battery is fully dead

The RC-8000's IR LED driver needs a minimum voltage to fire at full output. As Ni-MH cells age, internal resistance climbs — so the pack reads 4.2V at rest but sags to 3.8V under the pulse load of an IR burst. At that sag level, the LED fires weakly or inconsistently. The receiver stops seeing the signal before the pack is technically empty. Replacing the battery pack eliminates the sag because fresh cells have lower internal resistance and hold voltage under load.

Remote does nothing after new battery install

If the RC-8000 shows zero response after fitting a new pack, check connector orientation first — the JST-style connector on this pack has a polarity lock but can be forced in reverse with enough pressure. A reversed connection means no power reaches the PCB. Disconnect, flip the connector, and reconnect. If the remote still does not respond, hold any button and point the LED at a phone camera — a working IR LED appears as a purple-white flash on screen at 4.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RC-8000 worked fine yesterday but now does nothing after I put in a new battery — what's wrong?

The most likely cause is a reversed connector. The RC-8000 battery pack uses a polarised connector that can still be forced in backwards. Pull the connector out, flip it 180°, and reseat it firmly. If the remote still won't respond, use a phone camera pointed at the IR LED — press any button and look for a purple-white flash on screen to confirm power is reaching the LED.

The RC-8000 remote only works when I hold it right up to the receiver — why?

This happens when the battery pack is below the minimum voltage the IR LED driver needs for full-power output. The pack may still show charge, but Ni-MH cells sag under the pulse load of an IR burst as they age. At reduced output, the receiver only picks up the signal at close range. Fitting a fresh 4.8V 600mAh Ni-MH pack restores the LED to full drive current and normal operating distance.

The new battery in the RC-8000 seems to go flat much faster than the original did — what causes that?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at 1–3% per day even with no use, so a pack left sitting will lose capacity before the remote is touched. A stuck or partially depressed button on the RC-8000 also causes continuous IR firing, which drains the pack quickly. Check each button physically for debris or a stuck click, then charge the pack fully — a proper Ni-MH charge cycle to 4.8V confirms whether capacity is there.
