Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Verizon UV-X4 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 1050mAh lithium-ion battery is a direct swap for the Verizon UV-X4 handheld two-way radio. It matches the original pack's voltage rail and physical footprint at 53.20 x 35.30 x 7.10mm. No OEM part number was issued for this pack; fit is confirmed against the UV-X4 model only.
- UV-X4 platform fit: The UV-X4 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture. This battery matches that voltage rail and uses a connector profile sized to the UV-X4 chassis. The BMS is tuned to the transmit current draw profile of compact handheld transceivers in this power class.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads representative of sustained PTT use. The BMS held cutoff thresholds steady across multiple discharge cycles, with no premature overcurrent trips during the high-current spike at PTT press.
- First insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on the first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the contact pads with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The UV-X4 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.
UV-X4 cutting out mid-transmission on a new battery
A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.75V — not at a full charge state. When PTT is pressed, transmit current spikes sharply. If the cell hasn't completed at least one full charge cycle, the BMS may interpret that spike as an overcurrent event and trip the protection circuit. The radio cuts out, and the user assumes the battery is faulty. Run the battery through one complete charge before first use on air. After a full charge cycle, the BMS has a calibrated baseline and handles the PTT spike without tripping.
Bar indicator showing fewer bars than expected after inserting a new pack
The UV-X4 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — it reads resting cell voltage and maps it to bar segments. A new battery at storage voltage (roughly 3.6–3.7V) will show one or two bars, not four. This is not a fault with the cell. Place the battery on charge until the dock shows a full-charge indicator, then reinsert. The bar display will reflect the actual charged voltage — typically at or above 4.1V — and show correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
My UV-X4 cuts out every time I press PTT on the new battery — is the pack faulty?
Almost certainly not. When PTT is pressed, transmit current spikes hard and fast. A new cell at storage voltage has less headroom to absorb that spike, and the BMS can trip the overcurrent protection before the radio completes the transmission. Charge the battery fully before putting it on air. After one complete charge cycle, the BMS handles the PTT current surge without cutting out.
The charger dock shows a fault LED and won't start charging the new UV-X4 battery — what's wrong?
Most dock fault LEDs on first insertion are a contact issue, not a dead pack. The dock needs a clean metal-to-contact connection to read the BMS and accept the pack. Remove the battery, wipe the contact pads with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly until it clicks. If the fault LED clears and charging begins, you're done — if it persists, the cell voltage may be below the dock's acceptance threshold from extended storage; try a USB-based Li-ion charger set to 3.7V to bring the cell above 3.5V first.
The UV-X4 drops to noticeably weaker audio and signal output partway through a shift — battery or radio?
This is voltage sag under sustained RF output. As the cell depletes, its internal resistance rises and it can no longer hold the voltage rail steady during extended transmit loads. The radio's TX power stage backs off when supply voltage drops below its operating floor, which reads as weaker output — not a radio fault. Swap to a freshly charged pack mid-shift to confirm. If a fully charged battery reproduces the same symptom immediately, check the contact pads for corrosion and measure resting voltage; it should be at or above 4.1V off the charger.
