Fits Shark V1705 and V1705i cordless vacuums, replaces OEM part number XB1705.
3.6V and 2000mAh capacity restores full motor power to aging batteries that lose suction under carpet load.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation is marked on the pack.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH cell in a V1705 motor load — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion, no fault codes.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently; continuous trickle charging causes capacity fade faster than charging only when depleted.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Euro Pro Shark V1705 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (XB1705)

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Shark V1705 and V1705i cordless handheld vacuums. It replaces the original XB1705 cell and restores power to the motor and cleaning functions. Fit the battery and the vacuum runs the same as it did with the factory cell.

  • V1705 and V1705i compatibility: Both models run the same 3.6V motor rail and use an identical battery bay connector. The XB1705 cell fits either variant without modification — the single-cell Ni-MH pack slots directly into the housing and connects at the same terminal positions.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the V1705 under a blocked-filter load to force elevated motor draw. The cell held voltage above the motor cutoff threshold across repeated cycles and the BMS did not trip under normal operating conditions.
  • Dock charging habit on the V1705: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously. The V1705 charger does not switch to a true maintenance mode — it keeps pushing current into a full cell. Charge until full, then remove it from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor is working against a restriction — a clogged filter or partially blocked nozzle raises current draw above the cell's comfortable discharge rate. At 3.6V with a single Ni-MH cell, there is no voltage headroom to absorb the extra load. The cell voltage sags under the increased draw and the motor slows before the indicator ever signals low. Clear the filter first, then retest — that single step resolves this in most cases.

Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. Sustained suction against a blockage spikes motor draw beyond the cell's continuous discharge limit and the protection circuit cuts the output. The vacuum goes dead for a few seconds, the cell cools, and the BMS resets — which is why it powers back on after a pause. Check the filter and nozzle for obstruction, clear them, and the trips will stop. If trips continue with a clean filter on a new cell, the motor itself is drawing above spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Shark V1705 has noticeably less suction than it used to even with a fresh charge — what causes that?

A partially blocked filter is the most common cause. When airflow is restricted, the motor works harder and draws more current from the single 3.6V Ni-MH cell than it was rated for, causing voltage sag and reduced motor speed before the battery is actually depleted. Remove and rinse the foam filter, let it dry fully, then retest. If suction returns to normal after cleaning the filter, the battery was not the problem.

I left my V1705 on the charging dock for several weeks and now the battery barely holds a charge — is the cell ruined?

Most likely yes, the cell has developed capacity fade. The V1705 dock charger does not switch off or drop to a true float current when the cell is full — it continues to push charge into the pack. Weeks of this trickle overcharge damages Ni-MH cells internally and the lost capacity does not recover. Replace the XB1705 cell and from that point charge only until full, then pull it off the dock.

The vacuum cuts out after a few seconds of use on carpet but works fine on hard floors — why?

Carpet creates more airflow resistance than hard floors, which forces the motor to draw higher current. On a single 3.6V Ni-MH cell with limited discharge headroom, that extra draw triggers the BMS overcurrent protection and cuts power within seconds. Check and clean the filter first — a restricted filter compounds the problem significantly. If the cutout stops after cleaning the filter, no further action is needed; if it persists with a clean filter and a new cell, check the nozzle brush roll for hair wrap binding the motor.
