Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin ZUMO 350LM / 390LM Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00059-00)
This 3.7V 1800mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Garmin ZUMO 350LM, 390LM, 340LM, and zumo 396 motorcycle GPS navigators. It matches the OEM spec at 6.66Wh and uses the same physical footprint at 50.10 × 34.00 × 9.90mm. Swap it when the original no longer holds charge or causes unexpected shutdowns mid-ride.
- ZUMO 340LM, 350LM, 390LM, zumo 396 compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — all drawing from the same 3.7V Li-Polymer cell architecture Garmin standardised across this navigator family.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a ZUMO 350LM, confirming BMS handshake, charge acceptance, and correct voltage reporting on the device's battery indicator. No false-full readings or cutoff anomalies were observed.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors in open sky and let it run until it acquires a full satellite fix before mounting on the bike. The navigator performs a cold start after any complete power interruption — first fix typically takes 5–10 minutes, while subsequent warm starts run under a minute.
Saved routes and POIs disappearing after a battery swap
The ZUMO series stores some navigation data — including recent destinations and active route state — in battery-backed RAM. When power is completely removed during a swap, that volatile memory clears. Saved favourites and imported GPX routes stored in flash memory are unaffected, but any unsaved recent activity will be lost. Before removing the old battery, sync routes to Garmin BaseCamp or export them via USB to avoid losing any data you cannot recover.
ZUMO shutting off without a low-battery warning
After a battery replacement, the on-screen charge indicator is uncalibrated — it has not yet learned the new cell's discharge curve. The device can hit its hardware voltage cutoff threshold before the visual warning has time to display. This is normal for the first one to two full charge-discharge cycles. Run the unit through at least two full cycles on charge to let the fuel gauge recalibrate, and watch for the indicator stabilising around 3.5V before shutoff on the second cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ZUMO 350LM lost all my saved routes after I replaced the battery — is that normal?
Yes, and it depends on where the routes were stored. Data held in battery-backed RAM — including unsaved recent destinations and active route state — clears the moment power is fully removed. Routes and POIs you imported via USB or synced to Garmin BaseCamp are stored in flash memory and survive a swap intact. Before your next battery change, export your routes via BaseCamp or save them to the device's internal storage to protect them.
Satellite lock is taking 10 minutes after fitting the new battery — was something damaged?
Nothing is damaged. Removing the battery wipes the GPS receiver's cached almanac and ephemeris data — the satellite position tables it uses to lock quickly. Without that cache, the unit performs a cold start and has to download fresh satellite data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes in open sky. Every subsequent power-on after that will be a warm start, locking in under a minute. Stand outdoors with a clear sky view on first boot and let it finish the full acquisition before riding.
The battery indicator drops to one bar and the ZUMO shuts off immediately — it never shows empty.
This happens because the fuel gauge hasn't calibrated to the new cell yet. The device cuts power when the cell voltage drops below the hardware threshold, but the indicator hasn't learned where on the discharge curve that voltage sits, so the warning never fires in time. Run two full charge-discharge cycles — charge to 100%, use until automatic shutdown, then recharge fully. After the second cycle the gauge recalibrates and the low-battery warning will appear at the correct point, around 3.5V.
