Fits TomTom GO 5100, GO 6100, and 4FL50/4FL60 models; replaces OEM part VFAD.
Delivers 3.7V at 1100mAh (4.07Wh) — maintains full touchscreen brightness and GPS receiver power for navigation sessions.
Connects via internal slot connector with keyed orientation; no locking tab — seats flush once fully inserted.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first insertion; voltage ramp held steady through initial satellite acquisition.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5-10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TomTom GO 5100 / GO 6100 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (VFAD)

This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion cell replacing the original VFAD battery in the TomTom GO 5100, GO 6100, 4FL50, 4FL60, and related models. It powers the touchscreen display, GPS receiver, and real-time traffic processing. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly — no modification needed.

  • GO 5100 and GO 6100 compatibility: Both the 5-inch and 6-inch models in this TomTom GO generation share the same VFAD cell, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One battery fits both screen sizes because the power rail is identical across the platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on GO series hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, balanced correctly on the first full charge, and held voltage within spec across the discharge curve.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the GO fully on outdoors before driving. A full power interruption clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris data, triggering a cold start. First satellite fix takes 5–10 minutes outdoors — subsequent warm starts drop under a minute once the almanac rebuilds.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the GO 5100

When cell voltage drops toward 3.4V, some GO series units reduce receiver sensitivity to protect remaining charge for the display and processor. The GPS antenna gets less power, which weakens signal acquisition — particularly in urban canyons or under tree cover. This shows as position drift or slower route recalculation. Keeping the battery above 3.6V during active navigation avoids the sensitivity reduction entirely.

GO 5100 shutting off without warning before the battery indicator reads empty

A freshly fitted cell needs one full charge-discharge cycle before the GO's fuel gauge reads accurately. On the first few uses, the device may cut off abruptly because its stored voltage-threshold map still matches the old, degraded cell — not the new one. The shut-off threshold fires early against the new battery's discharge curve. Run one full charge to 4.2V and allow it to discharge to automatic shut-off once, then recharge fully — the gauge recalibrates after that cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TomTom GO 5100 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The GO series stores saved routes and some user data in battery-backed RAM. A full power interruption — which happens during any battery swap — wipes that volatile memory. Your device settings and maps stored on internal flash survive, but routes saved directly to the unit do not. Before any battery swap, export saved routes to MyDrive via Wi-Fi so they can be pushed back after the new cell is fitted.

The GO 6100 is shutting off mid-navigation without any low battery warning — what's happening?

The fuel gauge calibration is off. After a battery replacement, the device's discharge map still reflects the worn cell it was calibrated against, so the voltage shut-off threshold fires before the indicator reaches the warning level. Run one full charge to completion, then let the device run on navigation until it shuts itself off, and recharge fully — after that cycle the gauge recalculates against the new cell's actual discharge curve.

Active navigation drains my GO 5100 noticeably faster than just leaving it on standby — is something wrong with the replacement cell?

Nothing is wrong. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver at full sensitivity, keeps the display on, and processes live traffic data continuously — that combination draws significantly more current than standby, where the receiver duty-cycles and the display dims. Reduce screen brightness one or two steps below maximum and disable Bluetooth when not in use; those two changes cut draw enough to extend active navigation use meaningfully without affecting route guidance.
