Fits Google Pixel 3A XL and Pixel 3A XL G020C devices, replacing OEM part G020A-B.
3.85V 3600mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers full capacity across processor, display, and modem loads.
Connector seats flat against the adhesive pad with no locking tab or mechanical clip required.
We bench-tested this cell on a Pixel 3A XL motherboard; the BMS accepted the pack without fault codes on first insertion.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before USB-PD pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Google Pixel 3A XL — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (G020A-B)

This 3600mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original G020A-B battery in the Google Pixel 3A XL (G020C). It runs at 3.85V nominal and stores 13.86Wh. Fit this cell when your original battery no longer holds charge, causes unexpected shutdowns, or has visibly swollen.

  • Pixel 3A XL / G020C compatibility: Both device variants use the same connector pinout, flex cable routing, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both. Voltage and cell dimensions match the original bay: 75.25 × 63.58 × 4.50mm.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell in a Pixel 3A XL under mixed screen-on and modem loads. The BMS accepted charge from the Pixel's charge IC without fault codes, and the fuel gauge IC registered cell capacity within two full cycles.
  • First-cycle fast-charge protocol: On first use after installation, turn off Adaptive Charging for one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge IC pushes fast-charge current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage-cliff failure, not a capacity problem. Under sustained modem or display load, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC expects based on its stored discharge curve from the old cell. The phone interprets the voltage drop as a critical low-battery event and shuts down — even though the coulomb counter still shows charge remaining. Run one complete discharge from 100% to auto-off, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates its curve to the new cell and the false cutoff stops.

Phone won't power on after sitting in storage with a flat battery

If the cell dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell during storage, the BMS enters a protection lockout and blocks normal charge current. The phone shows nothing on screen when plugged in. Connect the device to a charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing any button — the charge IC trickle-charges the cell at low current until voltage clears the BMS lockout threshold. Once the cell climbs back above 3.0V, the BMS releases and normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Pixel 3A XL show the wrong battery percentage after fitting this replacement cell?

The fuel gauge IC in the Pixel 3A XL uses a stored discharge curve calibrated to the old cell's internal resistance and voltage profile. When a new cell goes in, the coulomb counter and voltage readings don't match that stored curve, so the percentage display drifts or jumps. Run one full uninterrupted discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without pulling the cable early. After that single cycle the fuel gauge IC re-maps to the new cell and percentage reporting stabilises.

USB-PD fast charging isn't working on the first charge after I installed this battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. On the first charge cycle, the Pixel's charge IC negotiates current with the new cell's BMS before accepting a high-current fast-charge contract. Some replacement cells take one full slow charge before the BMS signals readiness for elevated current. Plug into the original Google charger, leave Adaptive Charging off, and let the first cycle complete at standard rate — fast charging typically activates from the second cycle onward.

The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges with the new cell — is that normal?

A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC works against more resistance on the first few cycles. That extra resistance converts a small amount of charge energy to heat at the cell surface. The warmth drops off as the cell goes through its first two to three charge cycles and impedance settles. If the phone still runs hot to the touch after three full cycles, check that the battery flex connector is fully seated — a partial connection increases contact resistance and keeps heat elevated.
