Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Hoover ATHN30GR011 / ATN300B Series — 30V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (48006266)
This is a 30V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Hoover cordless stick and handheld vacuums using OEM part number 48006266. It fits the ATHN30GR011, ATN300B, ATN300B013, and ATV30RM011 among others. Capacity is sourced from product data at 3000mAh (90Wh) — not estimated.
- ATN300B and ATHN30GR011 platform fit: These models share the same 30V voltage rail, battery connector format, and BMS communication protocol. A battery built to the correct cell count and BMS spec slots in without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell pack through charge, discharge, and BMS trip cycles on a compatible unit. The BMS accepted the pack without fault codes, and the overcurrent cutoff triggered correctly under simulated motor blockage.
- Dock charging habit on Hoover stick vacs: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously. Hoover stick vacs on permanent dock charge develop capacity fade faster than units charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the battery can sustain at that state of charge. Ni-MH cells show a steeper voltage sag under load than the indicator circuit expects, so the vacuum loses effective suction while the LED still shows adequate charge. A partially blocked filter makes this worse — restricted airflow forces the motor to work harder and pulls higher current from the pack. Clean the filter first, then test suction on a full charge cycle.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the filter is restricted or the vacuum picks up a blockage, the motor draws a sustained current spike that crosses the BMS protection threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells, then resets once the draw drops. Check and clear the filter and any blockage in the floor head first. If the motor cuts out on a clean filter and clear airway, the BMS trip threshold may be set lower than the motor's start-up draw — verify the pack is at or above 27V before use.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Hoover ATN300B loses suction well before the battery light turns red — is the battery failing or is something else causing this?
With Ni-MH packs, voltage sags under motor load before the indicator circuit registers low charge — the light is measuring resting voltage, not loaded voltage. A partially clogged filter amplifies this because the motor draws harder against restricted airflow, pulling more current and deepening the sag. Clean the filter thoroughly and run a full charge cycle. If suction stays weak on a clean filter with a fully charged pack, the cells have lost capacity and the pack needs replacing.
The vacuum runs for a bit, then the motor suddenly cuts out, waits a few seconds, and starts again — what's happening?
That's the BMS tripping on an overcurrent event, not a random fault. Sustained restricted suction — usually a blocked filter or a floor-head clog — pushes motor draw above the pack's protection threshold, and the BMS cuts output to protect the cells. Clear the filter and check the floor head for any blockage. If the cutout still happens on a clean, unobstructed vacuum, check that the pack reads at least 27V under load before assuming the BMS is faulty.
This replacement pack charged fully but now it fades much faster than expected after only a few weeks — did I get a bad battery?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in Hoover stick vac packs. Ni-MH cells degrade faster under trickle charge than under normal charge-discharge cycles, and leaving the unit docked between every use compounds this quickly. Remove the vacuum from the dock once the charge indicator shows full and only return it when the pack is depleted. If fade continues after correcting the charging habit, check that the charger output matches the 30V specification on the pack label.
