Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LXE Thor VM1 / VM2 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 10.8V 2600mAh lithium-ion pack replaces the internal battery in the LXE Thor VM1 and Thor VM2 mobile data terminals. These are vehicle-mounted computers used in warehouses and distribution centres for scanning, data entry, and inventory tracking. It matches the original voltage and capacity specifications from the factory pack.
- Thor VM1 and VM2 compatibility: Both terminals run the same 10.8V battery rail and use the same connector housing and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single pack covers both units without any modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Thor VM1 unit, confirmed BMS communication with the terminal, and verified the pack passed the dock charging handshake without triggering a fault code.
- First-shift preparation on the VM1: After installing the new pack, seat the terminal in its dock and let it complete a full charge cycle before pulling it into a pick-and-pack run. The scan trigger inrush current peaks when cells are near minimum, and starting from a full charge prevents false BMS trips at the start of your first shift.
Cradle showing a charging error after fitting a new pack
A charging fault on the dock immediately after swapping packs almost always points to contact resistance between the terminal and the dock, not a faulty cell. Warehouse environments leave dust and debris on the battery contact pins, and even a thin layer raises resistance enough to trigger a fault. Wipe the contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, then firmly reseat the terminal until you hear it click. The dock should begin reporting a charge state within 30 seconds of a clean reseat.
Terminal losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst
The Thor VM1 draws current from two sources simultaneously during a scan burst: the imager or laser and the wireless radio polling the network. When the pack voltage sags under that combined load, the radio drops its connection before the imager fails. This typically appears as the terminal freezing mid-scan or dropping off the Wi-Fi network for a few seconds. If this happens on a new pack, confirm the cell is fully charged before the shift — voltage sag is steepest below 11.1V on a 10.8V Li-ion pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Thor VM1 stopped reading barcodes straight after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?
The imager or laser needs a minimum voltage threshold to fire reliably, and a new pack shipped in storage state may not have enough charge to meet it. This is not a fault with the scanner or the battery — it is a low-state-of-charge issue. Place the terminal in its dock and run a full charge cycle before attempting scanning. Once the pack reaches full charge, the imager will have the voltage headroom it needs to trigger correctly on the first scan.
The Thor VM1 runs noticeably warmer than usual during a long shift — is that a battery issue?
Sustained heat during extended shifts is a combined effect of continuous scan bursts plus constant wireless polling inside an enclosed housing. The terminal manages both loads through the same pack, and the current draw adds up quickly during busy pick-and-pack runs. Check that the terminal's ventilation area is not blocked by a mount or enclosure panel — restricted airflow amplifies the heat from normal load. If the housing is too hot to hold comfortably, let the terminal rest in the dock for 10 minutes and check that the dock fan (if fitted) is running.
The new battery seems to drain much faster than the old one did when it was new — what's causing that?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval are the two biggest contributors to faster-than-expected drain on the Thor VM series. If the unit is configured to poll the network aggressively or the scan trigger is firing on every label in a dense shelf, current draw is higher than a light-use setup. Check the wireless polling interval in the terminal's network settings and reduce it if the application allows. A polling interval above 100ms will noticeably reduce the load on the pack compared to continuous active polling.
