Mегафон U8230 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell for the Mегафон U8230 smartphone. It fits the original battery bay and connects to the same three-point contact strip used by the factory cell. Capacity is rated at 5.55Wh.

• U8230 platform fit: The U8230 uses a standard removable Li-ion pack on a shared Huawei-derived platform from that generation. Voltage rail, contact pitch, and physical envelope all match — the phone's charge IC sees the same input it expects from the original cell.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and full discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted charge without interruption, voltage held above 3.6V through mid-discharge, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
• Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging if the option is available and run one complete discharge down to auto-shutoff before charging back to 100%. The U8230's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle resets its coulomb counter reference against the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the U8230 after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. When the new cell's actual voltage drops under screen or modem load, the IC misreads remaining capacity and triggers shutdown before the percentage reaches zero. The fix is one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and the reported percentage tracks the actual cell state correctly.

U8230 not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage — the phone will show nothing when you press power. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a PC port, and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, usually around 2.9V, at which point the BMS releases and the phone boots normally.
