Fits Motorola 3 Model C, 3 Model S, WorkAbout Pro 4, and WorkAbout Pro G1 handheld barcode scanners — replaces OEM battery pack for these devices.
3.7V at 3300mAh capacity delivers full power to laser scan module and wireless radio in retail and warehouse pick-and-pack workflows without mid-shift cutoff.
Connector seats flat into the scanner battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side — no adapter needed, physical fit is direct.
We bench-tested the cell on a WorkAbout Pro 4 cradle; BMS accepted the handshake on insertion and held steady voltage under scan burst load without false shutdown events.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before active use — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when cells approach minimum, and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola WorkAbout Pro 4 / 3 Model C Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 3300mAh lithium-ion battery fits the Motorola 3 Model C, 3 Model S, WorkAbout Pro 4, and WorkAbout Pro G1 handheld barcode scanners. These devices are used in retail, warehouse, and logistics environments where scanning uptime directly affects throughput. The pack ships at a partial state of charge — seat it in the cradle before your first shift.

  • WorkAbout Pro and 3-Series platform fit: These models share a common battery bay geometry, contact pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One cell SKU covers the full range without modification or adapter.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger and wireless polling loads on a WorkAbout Pro 4 unit. The BMS held voltage within spec across burst sequences and did not trip on simulated inrush at low state of charge.
  • First-shift cradle charge: After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before committing it to pick-and-pack. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS cutoffs on the opening shift.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

Charging docks on the WorkAbout Pro series read BMS status through the battery contacts before releasing charge current. If those contacts carry oxidation or shipping residue, the dock flags a fault and stops. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the pack firmly until the dock LED changes state. If the error persists after cleaning, the BMS may be in a low-voltage lockout — leave the pack seated for 15 minutes and let the dock attempt a recovery pulse.

Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

A fast scan sequence draws current from the imager and the wireless radio at the same time. If the cell voltage sags below the radio module's operating threshold during that combined draw, the link drops — often just for a second, which looks like interference. This is more common late in a shift when the cell is partially depleted. Check the battery indicator before a high-volume task; if it reads below two bars, swap the pack and charge the low one rather than pushing through the burst session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WorkAbout Pro 4 scanner stops reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — is the battery faulty?

Not faulty — the imager needs a minimum supply voltage to fire, and a new pack shipped at partial charge can sit just below that threshold on first use. Place the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before triggering the imager. Once the cell reaches 4.1–4.2V, the imager will fire consistently on every pull.

The scanner feels noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is that normal with this battery?

Some warmth is expected. The 3-Series and WorkAbout Pro housings are compact, and sustained wireless polling combined with continuous scan bursts generates heat that has nowhere to go. If the unit is hot to the touch — not just warm — check whether the scan trigger is being held down rather than pulsed, which creates a continuous current draw the BMS was not rated for. Normal operating temperature for Li-ion under this load is up to around 45°C; beyond that, rotate to a second pack and let the first cool before reseating.

This battery isn't lasting as long per shift as the old one did — what's happening?

A new Li-ion cell often needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity. If you pulled it from the cradle early on the first few shifts, the cell hasn't been conditioned yet. Run three complete cycles — charge to full in the cradle, use until the low-battery alert fires, return to cradle — and measure shift endurance after cycle three. If capacity is still short after conditioning, check wireless polling frequency in the device settings; a shorter beacon interval draws more radio current and is the most common cause of unexpected capacity loss on these units.
