Fits Intermec 710, 720, 730, and 700 series scanners; replaces OEM part numbers 318-013-001, 318-011-002, 318-013-003, 318-011-004, 318-013-004, 318-013-002, 318-015-001, 318-015-002, 318-011-001, and 318-011-003.
7.4V, 3400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 25.16Wh to sustain barcode capture and wireless data transmission across warehouse shifts without mid-scan power dropout.
Connector seats flush into the scanner battery slot with a single locking tab that clicks once; confirm the tab engages fully before closing the battery door.
We bench-tested this pack on an Intermec 730 scanner at full scan burst duty; the BMS accepted the first charge cycle without fault codes or cutoff during extended radio polling.
Place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before first use in the field — rapid barcode scanning draws peak inrush current, and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS shutdowns on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec 710 / 720 / 730 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (318-013-001)

This 7.4V, 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Intermec 710, 720, and 730 handheld barcode scanners. It fits the full 700 series platform used in warehouse pick-and-pack, retail inventory, and logistics data collection. Capacity matches the OEM specification — 25.16Wh.

  • 700 series platform fit: The 710, 720, and 730 share the same 7.4V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers all three. The cell group configuration and contact layout are identical across this generation of Intermec mobile computers.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a 730 unit and monitored BMS behaviour through repeated scan-trigger and wireless polling sequences. The protection circuit held stable across combined inrush events without tripping or dropping the voltage rail below the scanner's minimum operating threshold.
  • First-shift preparation: After installing the new pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first pick shift. Scan-trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS cutoff trips during the opening burst of a high-volume shift.

Cradle showing charging error on a new pack

A charging error on the dock does not always mean a faulty battery. The Intermec cradle reads pack status through pogo-pin contacts, and any oxide layer or debris on the battery's gold contact pads interrupts that signal. The dock interprets a broken handshake as a charge fault and stops the charge cycle. Wipe the pack contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and confirm the charge indicator clears within 30 seconds.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During rapid scanning sequences, the 700 series draws current from two sources simultaneously — the imager or laser and the 802.11 radio. The combined inrush spike can push instantaneous draw high enough to cause a momentary voltage sag. If the cell is partially discharged, that sag crosses the radio module's minimum supply threshold and the wireless link drops. Charge the pack to full before a high-volume shift and check that the battery contacts are clean — a resistive connection amplifies voltage sag under combined load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Intermec 730 stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

The imager or laser needs the voltage rail to be above a minimum threshold before it fires reliably. A new pack shipped at partial charge can sit just below that point, especially on the first trigger pull. Place the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before use. After a complete charge, the imager should power cleanly on the first trigger press.

The new battery doesn't seem to last as long as the original did when it was new — why?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both draw from the same cell simultaneously, and high-traffic shifts drain the pack faster than light-use environments. If the previous battery was used in a lower-volume role, the comparison won't be like-for-like. Check the scanner's wireless polling rate in the Intermec device configuration — reducing unnecessary polling frequency between scans reduces combined draw and extends shift endurance without changing hardware.

The scanner housing feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is that a battery problem?

Sustained combined draw from the scan trigger and the 802.11 radio generates heat inside a sealed plastic housing with limited airflow. This is a normal thermal response under continuous high-frequency scanning, not a cell defect. If the housing feels hot rather than warm, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact — a resistive connection causes the pack to work harder and generate more heat than a clean circuit. Verify contact resistance is not elevated by wiping both pack and cradle pads with a dry cloth.
