Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SCANGRIP NOVA 20 C+R — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (03.5078)

This is an 11.1V 5200mAh (57.72Wh) lithium-ion battery for the SCANGRIP NOVA 20 C+R work flashlight. It fits the NOVA 20 C+R (03.5056) and the Multimatch C+R (03.5415). All three share the same battery bay geometry, voltage rail, and connector configuration.

  • NOVA 20 C+R and Multimatch C+R compatibility: Both lights run the same 11.1V three-cell pack and use the same mechanical locking interface. The driver boards in each model are calibrated to the same voltage floor, so one battery services both tools without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge and discharge cycle on the NOVA 20 C+R. The BMS held cell balance through turbo mode and stepped down cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff without tripping the driver into a fault state.
  • Multi-cell replacement tip: The 03.5078 is a sealed three-cell assembly. Never mix this replacement pack with a partially depleted original in a dual-battery setup — mismatched state-of-charge causes the weaker pack to discharge first, which can push individual cells below safe voltage under high-current turbo draw.

Why the NOVA 20 C+R steps down brightness before the battery indicator reads low

The NOVA 20 C+R driver monitors cell voltage directly, not pack percentage. When turbo mode pulls high current, internal resistance causes a temporary voltage sag below the driver's brownout threshold — even if the cells still hold significant charge. The driver steps down output to protect the cells, which looks like early dimming. This is normal behaviour, not a fault. Switching to standard or medium mode lets the voltage recover and restores full output.

Battery charges fully but turbo mode runtime is significantly shorter than expected

Turbo mode on the NOVA 20 C+R draws five to ten times more current than standard mode. That high draw accelerates heat buildup inside the cell stack, which can trigger the BMS thermal limiter and reduce available capacity per cycle. If this pattern repeats on a new pack, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full surface contact — partial contact raises resistance and worsens the voltage sag under load. A full charge to 12.6V confirmed at the terminals rules out a charging fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NOVA 20 C+R dims suddenly in turbo mode even though the battery indicator still shows full — is the battery failing?

No — this is the driver's brownout protection stepping in. Turbo mode draws enough current to sag cell voltage below the driver's threshold, even when cells are well-charged. The light drops output to prevent cell damage. Switch to standard mode, let the pack rest for 30 seconds, and voltage recovers — turbo will perform normally again after that brief rest.

One of my NOVA 20 C+R battery packs drains noticeably faster than the other when I rotate between two packs — why?

Rotating packs of different ages forces the older, higher-resistance pack to sag harder under turbo current, which deepens each discharge cycle and accelerates capacity loss. The packs fall out of balance quickly once one is significantly older. Replace both packs simultaneously from the same production batch — this keeps state-of-charge matched and prevents one pack from carrying disproportionate load.

The NOVA 20 C+R won't power on after the battery sat unused for several months — how do I recover it?

Extended storage allows cells to self-discharge below the BMS reactivation threshold, locking the pack in a protective sleep state. Place the battery on charge and leave it connected for at least two hours — most BMS circuits on 11.1V three-cell packs wake from sleep once the charger applies voltage consistently above 10.5V. If the charge indicator still shows no activity after two hours, check charger output voltage at the connector — it should read between 12.4V and 12.6V.
