Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SCANGRIP MAG3 COB LED — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (03.5711)
This is a 3.7V 2600mAh (9.62Wh) lithium-ion cell for the SCANGRIP MAG3 COB LED work light. It fits the MAG3 COB LED and related models including 03.5070 and 03.540. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge.
- MAG3 COB LED platform compatibility: These models share a single-cell 3.7V architecture with the same physical 18650-format cell and connector orientation. The driver board expects a flat-top cell within a specific internal resistance range — this replacement meets that requirement without triggering false low-voltage shutdowns.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the MAG3's driver circuit across all output modes. The BMS held stable under sustained COB draw, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold without nuisance shutoffs at partial discharge.
- Single-cell replacement protocol: The MAG3 runs one cell. If you are replacing it because capacity dropped significantly after the light spent months unused, run a full charge cycle before judging performance — deeply discharged Li-ion cells often recover their rated capacity after one proper charge, not immediately on first use.
Why the MAG3 COB steps down output before the indicator reads empty
The MAG3's driver uses brownout protection to step down brightness when cell voltage drops below the driver's minimum threshold — typically around 3.0–3.2V under load. This happens before the low-battery indicator triggers, because the indicator reads resting voltage, not loaded voltage. Under high COB draw, the loaded voltage can dip below the driver's floor even when resting voltage still reads acceptable. Switching to a lower output mode raises the loaded voltage back above the cutoff and restores stable output.
MAG3 won't power on after long storage
A cell stored discharged below roughly 2.5V may read zero or near-zero on a multimeter — the protection circuit has tripped to prevent over-discharge damage. Many chargers skip cells in this state because they detect no voltage. Connect the battery to the MAG3's original charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes; the charger's trickle stage can bring the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. If the cell recovers to above 3.0V and accepts a full charge, it is safe to continue using.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MAG3 COB dims noticeably in turbo mode but stays bright in the lower setting — is the new battery faulty?
It is not faulty. Turbo mode pulls significantly more current from a single 18650 cell, which causes the loaded cell voltage to sag. When that sag crosses the driver's brownout threshold, the circuit steps output down to protect itself. This is normal driver behaviour under high current draw, not a defective cell. Run the light in the standard mode if you need sustained, stable output across a full charge.
The MAG3 flickered and cycled through modes rapidly near the end of a charge — what caused that?
That flickering is the driver brownout cycling — the cell voltage is dropping in and out of the driver's minimum operating range under load. Each time voltage dips below the threshold, the driver resets, which produces the mode-cycling effect. It is not a wiring fault or a defective replacement cell. Switch to the lowest output mode immediately; the reduced current draw stabilises the voltage and stops the cycling.
The replacement cell charged fully but the MAG3 still won't turn on — what should I check?
First confirm the cell is seated fully — the MAG3's contact spring needs firm pressure to make connection with a flat-top cell. If seating is correct, check the cell voltage with a multimeter; it should read between 4.0V and 4.2V after a full charge. A reading below 3.6V after a complete charge cycle means the charger did not complete correctly — remove the cell, re-insert it, and restart the charge from zero. If voltage is correct and the light still won't power on, the fault is in the driver circuit, not the battery.
