Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SERIOUX Urban Pilot UPQ700 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HR504080)

This 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original HR504080 battery in the SERIOUX Urban Pilot UPQ700 portable GPS navigator. It restores power to the unit when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to power the device on. Capacity is 5.55Wh at the same voltage as the factory cell.

  • UPQ700 fit: The UPQ700 uses a flat Li-Polymer pouch cell on a 3.7V rail. This HR504080 cell matches the original footprint at 60.00 × 37.40 × 5.40mm, so the connector seats correctly and the cell sits flat in the housing without pressure on the screen assembly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a GPS navigator platform. The BMS accepted charge from a standard 5V USB input without fault flags, and the protection circuit triggered cleanly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After a full power removal, the UPQ700 loses its satellite ephemeris data and performs a cold start. Take the unit outdoors after fitting this battery and allow 5–10 minutes for the first satellite fix. Subsequent warm starts will lock in under a minute once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy dropping as battery level falls on the UPQ700

Some GPS navigators reduce RF receiver sensitivity at low battery to cut power draw. On the UPQ700, this can cause position drift or slower route recalculation before the device shuts off. A degraded original cell reaches the low-battery threshold sooner, compressing the window of full-accuracy navigation. A fresh 1500mAh cell keeps the receiver running at full sensitivity for longer into each charge cycle.

UPQ700 shuts off without warning before the battery indicator hits empty

This happens when the original cell has aged enough that its actual capacity no longer matches the charge curve the device's fuel gauge was calibrated against. The navigator reads 30% remaining, but the real voltage drops below the cutoff threshold — around 3.0V — and the unit powers off mid-route. Replacing the cell resets this mismatch. After fitting the new battery, run two full charge-to-discharge cycles so the device can recalibrate its voltage-to-percentage mapping.

Frequently Asked Questions

My UPQ700 lost all my saved routes and favourites after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The UPQ700 stores some navigation data in volatile RAM that needs continuous power to retain its state. A full battery removal — even briefly — can wipe saved routes, recent destinations, and POIs that weren't written to the flash storage. Data stored directly to the internal memory or an SD card survives the swap. Before fitting a replacement battery, export your favourites to the SD card from the device's settings menu.

The UPQ700 took nearly 10 minutes to find a GPS signal after I put in the new battery — is something wrong with the unit?

Nothing is wrong. When the device loses all power, it discards its cached satellite ephemeris data and has to download a fresh almanac from scratch — that's a cold start, and 5–10 minutes outdoors is normal. Once the almanac is cached again, warm starts drop to under a minute. Stay stationary with a clear view of the sky on that first fix so the unit can lock quickly and rebuild its satellite table.

My UPQ700 drains the new battery much faster during active turn-by-turn navigation than it does on standby — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously, keeps the display backlit, and processes map rendering all at once — the combined draw is significantly higher than standby. Screen brightness is the biggest single variable: dropping it one or two steps in the display settings cuts power draw noticeably without affecting map readability in a car. If drain still seems excessive, check whether the backlight timeout is set to "always on" and set it to 15–30 seconds instead.
