Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Evolveo Sportcam A8 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V 900mAh Li-ion cell that fits the Evolveo Sportcam A8 action camera. It replaces the original battery that powers the camera's video capture, photo mode, and onboard processing. Swap it in when your original cell no longer holds a useful charge between shoots.
- Sportcam A8 fit: The A8 uses a compact 32.77 x 29.16 x 10.89mm cell at 3.7V nominal. This replacement matches that footprint and voltage rail so the battery seats correctly and the camera's charge circuitry operates within spec.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge passes on the bench, confirming the BMS protection triggers correctly at low-voltage cutoff and that charge acceptance from the camera body proceeds without fault codes.
- First-install charge cycle on the A8: Insert the new cell and charge it fully through the camera body before your first shoot. The A8's battery-remaining indicator maps to a discharge curve — a full charge cycle from within the camera body lets it calibrate the display reading accurately from the start.
Why the Sportcam A8 shows a dead-battery indicator on a freshly installed replacement cell
A new Li-ion cell ships at a partial state of charge — typically 40–60% — to slow self-discharge during storage. The A8's fuel gauge reads voltage against a stored discharge curve, and a mid-range starting voltage can map to a low or empty reading on the indicator. This is not a fault with the cell. Plug the camera into charge immediately after inserting the new battery. Once the charge cycle completes and the cell has been discharged and recharged once inside the camera, the indicator tracks correctly.
Battery percentage jumping erratically during recording on the A8
The A8 estimates remaining charge by measuring cell voltage at intervals. A replacement cell with a slightly different discharge curve than the original will produce voltage readings that don't match the indicator thresholds the firmware expects. This causes the percentage to jump — sometimes dropping 20% suddenly, then stabilising. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body. After the second cycle the indicator typically settles to within a few percent of the actual remaining charge, with resting cell voltage around 3.7V at the midpoint of the curve.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Evolveo Sportcam A8 won't recognise the new battery at all — screen stays blank when I power on
The A8 occasionally fails to initialise a new cell if the battery contacts are slightly oxidised or if the cell voltage is below the camera's startup threshold. Clean the gold contact pads inside the battery bay with a dry cotton swab, reinsert the battery firmly, and connect the camera to charge via USB before attempting to power on. If the charge LED activates, the camera has accepted the cell — let it charge to full before powering on independently. A cell voltage of at least 3.6V at the terminals is enough for the A8 to boot.
My Sportcam A8 depletes this replacement battery noticeably faster in cold outdoor conditions than it did at room temperature
Li-ion cells lose available capacity as temperature drops because internal resistance rises, reducing the voltage the cell can sustain under load. On the A8, continuous 1080p recording draws enough current that a cold cell hits the low-voltage cutoff sooner than the same cell would at 20°C. Keep a spare battery in an inside jacket pocket between clips to hold it near body temperature. Swap the cold cell out, let it warm to room temperature, and it will recover most of its rated 900mAh capacity before the next use.
The flash on my A8 is taking noticeably longer to recycle between shots — is the battery the cause?
Flash recycling depends on how quickly the capacitor recharges after firing, which is directly tied to the current the battery can deliver. As a Li-ion cell ages and internal resistance increases, it sags under the recharge current spike and the capacitor takes longer to reach full charge. If your replacement cell is recycling slowly from the first use, check that the battery is fully charged — capacitor recharge current draw is highest when the cell is below 3.9V. A fully charged 3.7V nominal cell sits near 4.2V and recycles the flash significantly faster than a cell at 50% charge.
