Fits SkyGolf SG1, SG2, SG2-USB, and SG0003 models; replaces OEM part GP50301HG026.
3.7V 1050mAh cell delivers 3.89Wh — adequate for full-day navigation on moderate course mapping use.
Connector is a two-pin JST type; polarity marked on the housing; slides into the battery slot without locking tabs.
We bench-tested this cell in an SG1 unit; the BMS accepted the charge cycle without fault codes; no voltage regulation issues on first insertion.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption requires 5–10 minutes versus under one minute for warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SkyGolf SG1 / SG2 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GP50301HG026)

This 3.7V, 1050mAh lithium-ion cell replaces the factory battery in the SkyGolf SG1, SG2, SG2-USB, and SG0003 handheld golf GPS navigators. It matches the original GP50301HG026 specification and fits the same footprint at 51.19 × 36.04 × 5.54mm. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to complete a full round.

  • SG1 / SG2 platform fit: The SG1 and SG2 series share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell covers the full range. The GP50301HG026 part number is consistent across those variants, and the BMS accepts this cell without requiring a firmware prompt or recalibration step.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a GPS navigator test rig. The BMS held the charge cutoff at 4.2V and triggered the low-voltage protection at 3.0V without nuisance tripping during GPS receiver polling spikes.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After any full power removal, the SG1 loses its ephemeris data and must complete a cold start. Power the unit on outdoors in an open area and leave it stationary — first satellite fix typically takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent power cycles warm-start in under a minute once the almanac is rebuilt.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the SG1

When cell voltage falls below roughly 3.5V, some SkyGolf SG1 units reduce GPS receiver polling rate to conserve power. This shows up as course position that refreshes slowly or jumps between shots. The fix is not a software setting — it is a voltage issue. Keep the cell above 3.6V during a round by charging fully before you tee off.

SG1 shutting off without a low-battery warning

The SG1 fuel gauge reads the cell's state of charge against a calibrated discharge curve stored from the original battery. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance can cause the gauge to read capacity optimistically, then hit the hardware cutoff voltage without triggering the on-screen warning. To recalibrate, run the unit from a full 4.2V charge down to auto-shutoff twice — the gauge re-maps the curve against the new cell's actual characteristics after two full cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SkyGolf SG1 switched off mid-round with no warning — is that a battery problem or a firmware bug?

It is almost always a battery calibration issue after fitting a new cell. The SG1's fuel gauge was mapped to the original battery's discharge curve, and a replacement cell with different internal resistance throws off that estimate — the device hits the hardware voltage cutoff before the visual warning triggers. Run two full charge-to-shutoff cycles and the gauge recalibrates to the new cell. After that, the low-battery indicator should appear well before the unit powers down.

All my saved courses disappeared after I swapped the battery — can I get them back?

Some SkyGolf SG1 units hold course and user data in battery-backed volatile memory. When the cell is fully removed, that memory loses power and resets. Pre-loaded course maps stored in flash are unaffected and will still be there — but any custom user data or downloaded updates held in RAM may be gone. Reconnect the SG1 to SkyGolf's PC caddie software and re-sync your courses to restore them.

The SG1 is taking 10 minutes to find satellites after I fitted the new battery — was the cell faulty?

The delay is not a fault — it is a normal GPS cold start. Removing the battery clears the ephemeris data the receiver uses to find satellites quickly. Without that data, the unit has to download a fresh almanac from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once the first fix completes, power the device off and back on — the second lock should take under 60 seconds because the almanac is now cached in flash.
