Fits SkyGolf SG5, SG5 Range Finder, and SkyCaddie SG5 golf GPS units; replaces OEM part BAT-00022-1050.
3.7V, 1100mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 4.07Wh to power course mapping and distance calculations on the SG5 navigator.
Connector matches the original SkyGolf battery slot with standard contact orientation; no locking tab modification needed.
We bench-tested this cell in an SG5 unit; BMS accepted the new pack on insertion with normal voltage ramp and no fault codes.
After installing this battery, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — the SG5 performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SkyGolf SG5 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BAT-00022-1050)

This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the SkyGolf SG5, SG5 Range Finder, and SkyCaddie SG5 handheld golf GPS units. It matches OEM part number BAT-00022-1050 and fits the original battery compartment at 44.13 × 35.53 × 8.77mm. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds charge through a full round.

  • SG5 platform fit: The SG5, SG5 Range Finder, and SkyCaddie SG5 all share the same battery bay, voltage rail, and connector orientation. One cell covers all three variants — no adapter or wiring change needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS held the 3.7V nominal rail cleanly and engaged the low-voltage cutoff at the expected threshold, with no false trips during load testing at GPS-draw current levels.
  • Cold-start preparation after fitting: After installing this cell, power the SG5 on outdoors with a clear sky view before your round. Full power removal triggers a cold GPS start — first satellite acquisition takes 5–10 minutes. Run this once at home, not on the first tee.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the SG5

The SG5 GPS receiver draws more current maintaining satellite lock than most users expect. As cell voltage drops toward the low-battery threshold, the unit reduces receiver sensitivity to extend remaining power. This shows up as slower distance refreshes and slight positional drift — not a satellite issue, a power issue. Keeping the cell above 3.5V prevents the sensitivity rollback from kicking in.

SG5 shuts off without warning mid-round

After fitting a new cell, the SG5's battery indicator may not be calibrated to the new cell's discharge curve. The device reads the voltage level and maps it to a fuel gauge, but that mapping drifts when a new cell is installed. The unit can hit the hardware voltage cutoff — around 3.0V — while the display still shows one bar remaining. Fix this by running two full charge-to-discharge cycles so the firmware recalibrates the low-voltage warning against the actual cell behaviour.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SkyGolf SG5 lost all my saved courses after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The SG5 stores some user data in memory that depends on continuous power. A full battery removal resets that volatile memory, which can wipe saved rounds or custom waypoints. Pre-loaded course maps stored in flash are not affected and come back on first power-up. Before any battery swap, sync the device to SkyCaddie software to back up any data you want to keep.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes every time I turn the SG5 on after the battery swap — what's happening?

This is a cold start, not a fault. When the battery is pulled, the SG5 loses its cached satellite almanac and last-known position. On first power-up it has to download fresh almanac data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles warm-start in under a minute because that data is now cached. Power the unit on outdoors and let it lock once — the problem goes away on its own after that first fix.

The SG5 distance readings are jumping around during my round — battery-related or something else?

At low cell voltage, the SG5 scales back GPS receiver sensitivity to conserve power, and that's when positional jitter shows up. Check the battery indicator — if it's showing one bar, the receiver is already in reduced-sensitivity mode. A fully charged cell sitting at 4.1–4.2V eliminates the jitter. Charge the replacement cell fully before the round and confirm the indicator reads full before you head to the first hole.
