Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

CLARION MAP 770 / MAP780 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BPLP1200 11-B0001MX)

This is a 3.7V 1250mAh (4.63Wh) lithium-ion cell for the CLARION MAP 770, MAP770, and MAP780 in-vehicle GPS navigator. It replaces OEM part BPLP1200 11-B0001MX and restores operation when the original cell no longer holds charge. Voltage and physical dimensions match the factory spec exactly — 50.09 × 36.67 × 6.53mm.

  • MAP 770 and MAP780 platform fit: Both units share the same internal battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and charge management circuit. One cell covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a MAP 770 unit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake correctly at first connection and held voltage within expected range across full discharge to cutoff.
  • First-fix satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the MAP 770 fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before driving. A cold start — triggered by complete power removal — takes 5–10 minutes for the first GPS lock. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once the almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the MAP 770

When cell voltage drops toward the lower threshold, the MAP 770 reduces receiver sensitivity to cut power draw. This shows up as positional drift or loss of turn-by-turn accuracy even though the unit appears to still be running. It is not a firmware bug or antenna fault — it is a deliberate power-saving step tied directly to battery voltage. Keeping the cell above 3.6V under load prevents this mode from activating.

MAP 770 shuts off without warning before the battery indicator hits empty

This happens when the on-screen battery gauge is reading from a calibration profile built around the original cell. A replacement cell — even at the same nominal voltage — has a slightly different discharge curve until the device recalibrates. The MAP 770 hits its hard voltage cutoff before the visual indicator catches up, making the shutdown look sudden. Run two to three full charge and discharge cycles to let the gauge resync to the new cell's actual curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MAP 770 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The MAP 770 holds saved routes and certain POI data in battery-backed RAM. When the original cell is fully removed, that memory loses power and clears. Addresses stored on the internal memory or SD card survive the swap — only volatile RAM data is lost. Reload saved routes from an SD card backup or re-enter them after the replacement is fitted.

The MAP 770 is taking nearly 10 minutes to get a satellite fix after the battery replacement — something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. A complete power interruption wipes the GPS almanac and ephemeris data cached in the receiver. Without that data, the unit has to perform a cold start and download satellite positioning information from scratch — that takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once the almanac is rebuilt and stored, subsequent power cycles return to normal warm-start lock times well under a minute.

Active navigation drains the MAP 770 battery much faster than just leaving it sitting — why?

In active navigation the GPS receiver is continuously tracking satellites, the processor is recalculating routes, and the display runs at full brightness. That combination pulls significantly more current than standby or power-off. The MAP 770 is designed to run from the vehicle's 12V supply during navigation — use the car charger as the primary power source and treat the internal battery as a short-term backup when disconnected from the vehicle.
