Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Solac AA3400 / XR210 Series — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 14.4V 2000mAh Ni-MH battery for the Solac AA3400, Ecogenic AA3400, XR210, and XR210C cordless vacuum cleaners. It replaces the original cell when capacity has faded or the battery no longer holds a usable charge. Voltage and connector match the original pack — no modification needed.
- AA3400 and XR210 platform compatibility: Both the AA3400 and XR210 lines share the same 14.4V battery rail and connector housing. The BMS on these vacuums expects a Ni-MH cell — substituting Li-ion would trigger a constant protection cutoff on these chargers.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and recharge on the AA3400 platform. The BMS accepted the pack without fault codes, and the motor drew current at the expected rate across carpet and hard floor modes.
- Dock charging protocol for Ni-MH cells: Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently. Solac cordless vacuums using Ni-MH chemistry develop capacity fade significantly faster under continuous trickle charge than units charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low on the AA3400
Ni-MH cells show a relatively flat voltage curve during discharge, then drop off sharply near the end. On the AA3400, the indicator reads remaining charge from resting voltage, not under-load voltage. Under partial filter blockage or worn brush roll resistance, the motor draws above its rated current — the cell voltage sags under that load before the indicator catches up. Clean the filter first, then test suction under actual load. If suction recovers immediately after filter cleaning, the battery is not the cause.
Motor cuts out mid-use then restarts after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, full dustbin, or a lodged obstruction — the motor works harder and pulls more current than the BMS allows. The protection circuit opens, cutting the motor, then resets after the cell temperature drops slightly. Clear the blockage, empty the bin, and confirm the filter is seated correctly. If the cutout continues on a fully clear airpath, measure resting cell voltage: it should read above 12.0V on a charged Ni-MH 14.4V pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Solac AA3400 loses suction well before the battery light says it's low — is this a battery problem or something else?
Usually it's not the battery first. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which causes voltage sag under load even when the cell has capacity left. Clean or replace the filter, empty the dustbin, and clear the brush roll before assuming the battery has failed. If suction drops immediately on a cleared airpath with a fresh charge, the cell itself may have capacity fade — Ni-MH cells lose usable capacity gradually after repeated shallow cycles.
My replacement battery isn't charging on the AA3400 dock — the charger light doesn't respond at all.
The AA3400 charger uses a delta-V detection method to identify Ni-MH cells and confirm a valid pack is seated. If the contacts are not making a clean connection, or the pack was stored deeply discharged, the charger may not detect it. Remove the pack, wipe the contacts on both the battery and dock with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and try again. If the pack has sat fully discharged for an extended period, the cell voltage may be too low for the charger to recognise — a compatible Ni-MH charger with a recovery or trickle-start mode can bring it up to around 10.8V before returning it to the dock.
My Solac XR210 battery faded fast — it worked for a few months then barely runs at all. What caused this?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in Ni-MH cordless vacuums. The XR210 dock applies a trickle charge when the pack is full, and Ni-MH chemistry degrades under sustained trickle current — a process called voltage depression, sometimes called the memory effect. Remove the battery from the dock once charging is complete rather than leaving it docked between uses. Cycling the new pack through full discharge and full recharge two or three times after installation helps establish full rated capacity.
